The best Joker storyline in a while
Not many people would be able to name more than 5 good, memorable Joker storylines. Death in the Family, Joker's Five-way Revenge, TDKR # 3, and maybe Black Mirror or RIP, but those didn't really focus on the Joker. So, in a way, this is not only the fictional character's return to Batman's life, but his return to form as Batman's arch enemy. Who better to bring the Clown Prince of Crime back than the team that pushed the Dark Knight to his physical & mental limits in the "Court of Owls" arc? Snyder writes the Joker the exact way I feel any true Joker fan would. The way Mista J. speaks could be interpreted as Mark Hammil's Joker or Heath Ledger's, and that's the sign of a great Joker. He's equal parts an evil genius as he is psychopathic murder i.e. he disable the GCPD's security & lights, then proceeded to snap everyone's neck! If that doesn't freak you out... Go watch Mr. Hands or something. Capullo's art wasn't my favorite when I bought issue 1, but now he's one of my favorite artists. He doesn't draw too realistically, but it doesn't feel like I'm reading a children's book, like a cross between Frank Miller (in the good ol' days) and the animated series Batman. Plus, Capullo's new Joker design is creepy as all hell. All of this gives me the feeling that this is going to be a tremendous storyline. Can't wait for next month! Maybe I'll travel to the future & get #14 and the fight Joseph Gordon-Levitt or whatever.
