    Earth to Harper

    The Story So Far

This story follows the character Harper Row, who we have seen little glimpses of throughout the current Batman run. We see that she works for the city's electrical engineering office and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. Her and her brother have a encounter involving the Batman and she begins to develop an obsessive need to help Batman. Batman does not approve.

    Hit

Its was interesting to see some back story on this character and to see why she seems to have this need to help Batman. It gave us some insight on just how integrated Batman is with Gotham. And I want to know more about this Pennyworth family brownie recipe.

    The cover is electric.

    Miss

The choice to give Harper a nose piercing really bugged me. It just looked like she had snot in her nose the whole issue. It drove me nuts. Other than that I didn't mind Cloonan's art, but once Clarke took over at the end it was terrible. The last shot of Harper is just disgusting (too strong?). I won't say that I don't like her character, but I really fail to see how she is necessary. This issue didn't really make me care about what happens to her more than I did before.

My biggest peeve with this issue is the lack of any info regarding the next story arc. Especially because the plot summary from DC said it would. But since when have those things been right, huh?

    Your Job

I really hate to say this about a Batman title but this issue can be skipped. You might better off reading issue 11, then the 8 page short story at the end of Detective #11, and then Batman #13. The only reason to read it is because I feel like Snyder was plans for this character. And when Snyder has plans they are usually good in my opinion.

OverviewThis epilogue details the new character Harper Row and what she was up to between issue 1 and issue 7. Although this adds no current development into the story, it does elaborate an interesting new character and could show her importance in the upcoming Joker arc, but on to the reviewTHE GOOD:Now we do get to see who Harper is, how she got into the Wayne gala, and her relationship with Batman. She is a very troubled girl just trying to get day by day with her brother, who just so happens...

THE GOOD: Greg Capullo takes a break from this issue and his fill in does just as great work. Becky Cloonan has a very different style but her work works well with the story that Scott Snyder is telling. I really like the way that she draws Gotham City and I think that he characters also looks really cool. The story goes way back to around the events of Batman #1,2,3 and 4. I like how Scott Snyder did this because it tells it own story but adds a little to the Court of Owls. I really like Harper...
