Silver The Vampire Hunter (Batgirl #29)
(Quick Unprofessional Review)
This is one of the best selling DC titles, but doesn't get talked about much. Most of the issues of Batgirl have been solid. I was heading into this issue excepting it to be just another good issue from Gail Simone, but it completely surprised me!
The issue starts off with where it left off previously. Barbara, Strix, Silver and his assistant are in the crosshairs of the cops. They dealt with this situation in a very clever way, and got away. Silver is a very interesting and great new villain. He doesn't really kill innocent people. He doesn't even kill people. He kills mainly vampires. Through his eyes, he sees certain people as bloodsucking vampires. I also like how Batgirl takes help from one of her biggest nemesis in this series. I also like the characterization of Strix. She comes to Babs for help after Silver kidnapped a mute little girl named Cassy. She is determined to save the girl even if she has to kill, which Babs won't let her do. I was excepting this issue to play out like a typical comic story, there were many twists and turns! ***(Spoilers)*** I was really surprised how Batgirl and Strix convinced Silver to change his outlook. The villain actually let the kidnapped girl go and gave up pretty easily. Another unexpected thing happened that I didn't see coming at all. It was an awesome moment in this issue, and I'm not gonna give it away. Read the comic! The art was also strong once again. I love how DC keeps the artists on their books for very long time unlike Marvel, where they change art on a book every 6 issues.
THis issue was one of my favorites of this series. Batgirl is the only great bat-book I'm currently reading, and it might be the only bat-book on my pull-list very soon. (Dropped Batman, and might drop Batwoman). This enjoyed the hell out of this issue. 9/10!
