No rest from the wicked
What went down
There is never any rest for the wicked thus leaving no time for the heroes to rest either. Running on "coffee and will power," Barbra refuses to rest until this mess by the Joker and her brother are cleaned up. Commentary done from the point of view from her brother reveals she's been taking 20 minute power naps in-between going through the police data base and looking for all of the Joker's followers and alerting the police of who they are. We then see a side of her we rarely see; her out and just taking a break. Seeing the human side of her after the intense story arc and seeing her interact with normal people, well as normal as they get in Gotham, as simply Barbra. However the light fluff can not last as we see her mother, who in Batgirl #16 was kidnapped by the Joker who cut her finger off. Her son, James, then shows up dressed as a doctor, who is very cryptic about his plan. Then the comic flips to the police station where they are trying to track down the Joker's followers and Commissioner Grodon's son. Then the action starts where Barbra is trying to track him down as well, but in the process a new villain Firebug shows up.
The Good
The aftermath of Death of the Family and how this has affected the characters is nice to see. It gives it a nice clean wrap up while also setting up the next story. Excellent writing, artwork, line art, coloring, all very well done. I liked seeing the dynamics of the Gordon family while also getting a glimpse of the next story arc for Batgirl.
The Bad
The comic itself was a bit rushed. Also the introduction of Firebug felt a bit unnatural and forced. Other than that, not much negative about this part.
The Ugly (Conclusion)
Over all I'm rather excited to see what James is planning, even if I'm not so pumped by this fight with Firebug. Gotham really needs a break.
