Bat-Thing is the amalgamation of DC's Man-Bat and DC's Swamp Thing and Marvel's Man-Thing, creating a character whose story parallels that of Frankenstein's Monster.
Dr. Kirk Sallis was attempting splice genes to conduct genetic experiments on himself on himslef in New Gotham City swamp. The experiment went wrong and transformed him into a Bat-like creture, known as the Bat-Thing.
