He serves as an anti-thesis to Morbius; Morbius represents someone who despises the monstrosity that is made manifest, clinging to what little humanity he has left, the Basilisk is someone who utterly depsises his humanity and purposefully undergoes his transformation into a monster (in further contrast to Morbius whose transformation was accidental). |
