Why doesn't Bane tell other villains Batman's secret identity?

In KnightFall, Bane found out that Bruce Wayne was Batman and took him down. Later when Azrael took him down and Bruce took down Azrael, he must have realized Bruce Wayne was Batman again. Why hadn't he just told the other villains the secret or at least sold the info for a pretty penny? Of course, a lot of the other villains aren't rich enough to make it a really good profit, but he could have made a lot of money by selling the info to Lex Luthor.

I guess because Bane has an honor codex. Money is not as important to him as winning.

Could be something of an Ego thing, with so many people trying to kill Batman, why would you allow someone else to take your glory?

He is shy.

#6 Edited by Caligula (12417 posts) - - Show Bio

He isn't going to reveal Batman's identity because, if he wants to get to kill him, it gives him an upperhand knowing that Bats is Bruce, where as the other villains have no clue, limiting their chances off killing him.

Joker acknowledges that they are two parts of a whole, Batman and Joker are two fractured people, and together they make one.

When people say that the Bat is not good enough or is just a man Joker will usually throw a sh@t fit and kill them The Joker has the biggest ego in comics he thinks he is the greatest thing ever and Batman is the only person he has deemed worthy of being his arch nemesis

That just proves Joker is psychotic. The synthesis only exists in his mind, not Batman's.

Just because his ego is so big doesn't mean he recognizes his positive qualities. He may be projecting qualities on Batman that he doesn't possess simply to buff himself up. If he gets angry when people downplay Batman just because he's the Caped Crusader's archnemesis, that's not respect.

Psychotic is a subjective term.

whether Batman respects the Joker or not is irrelevant. but the Joker does respect Batman. have you ever read a Batman comic? cause it doesn't seem like it.

@Caligula: If Bane wants to be the one to kill him, how come he hasn't been in any really big storylines since KnightFall? He should have tried to attempt it again by now.

because of the writers man, what happens and when is all up to them, asking me why he hasn't tried recently is like, as a blind ape to tell you what color your hair is :D we just don't know.
#25 Posted by TheMess1428 (2176 posts) - - Show Bio
@Caligula: I understand the writer part. I'm a writer myself. I can make my characters do whatever I want them to do. It's a sort of God Complex. But I figured there would be some kind of logic or an explanation as to what he is doing instead of attacking Batman.

Is it stated some where or is it Cannon that Bane knows who Batman is?

So he actually said that he knows that Batman is Bruce?

#31 Posted by Edamame (28062 posts) - - Show Bio
@Mox: No. He let every Gotham City villain tire Batman out until he had to go back and rest at the Mansion. Off goes the Batman costume and there is Bruce.  Bane was waiting for him there.
#32 Posted by Mox (17 posts) - - Show Bio
@Edamame:  OH!!!! I forgot that Batman didn't have his mask on. Ok thank you for clearing that up for me.

Not to mention Batman's secret identity is not a problem to him he has HUNDREDS of set up lives and nest eggs he can hop into at the drop of a hat Bruce Wayne dies in automobile accident suddenly a liquor stores opens on the lower east side owned by friendly Jason Richardson

Its a constant battle and he knew that it would end everything and it'd be over. His plan, kill Batman, not Bruce.
#36 Posted by SuperXAsh (509 posts) - - Show Bio

well it probably started off as "wants to keep that info to himself to give him an edge", but since their "relationship" has changed drastically since Knightfall, I'm sure it's more out along the lines of "respect among warriors" kinda thing

Bane wants the honor of killing Batman to be his and his alone. With all the other villains out there, it's hard enough to claim the prize without letting all the others know where to find him. He's claimed before that he admired Batman and saw it as an honor to face him.

QFT.

Bane actually developed as a character and his relationship with Batman grew and evolved as well. Before the recent end of "Secret Six," Bane was actually on relatively good terms with Bruce (as good as that book was -and believe me, I was a big Six fan- I often wondered how much of Bane's character development Gail Simone actually read, where Bane inexplicably had hostile feelings towards Batman again at the end).

It's not about wanting to have Batman all to himself (it might've been like that in Knightfall, but not anymore). Whether a writer has him in the role of villain or ally, Bane just flat-out respects Batman too much to reveal his identity. He's much more like Ra's Al Ghul in that way than any of the usual psychotics that Batman deals with, who would likely revel in the knowledge of his identity or possibly sell the information.

My opinion is that Bane isnt out to ruin Batman, he just wants to prove her is better. Its not revenge!

#48 Edited by superbatprime (130 posts) - - Show Bio

Simply because Bane is smart enough to know that Batman without Bruce Wayne is a very bad day for villains.

A Batman with nothing to lose, a Batman free of any of the day to day distractions of being Bruce Wayne?

Have you read Bruce Wayne: Fugitive?

That's a Batman you don't want loose in the world if you're a bad guy.

Also these guys, Bane, Ras, Joker, they couldn't care less about Bruce Wayne really, they are only interested in his real identity, they are only interested in the Bat.

EDIT: oh I necro'd, sorry!

Bane gains nothing, maybe it'll amuse him for a while but nothing more than that.
