British Bane or Stupid Bane

#1 Edited by count_me_in (2 posts) - - Show Bio

Hello, I'm new here...

I just want to ask a question,

what would you prefer Bane from TDKR(British, but smart, calculating, and menacing) or Bane from Batman and Robin(Hispanic, but portrayed as stupid).

why i ask this question?

because there is a man who called himself a Batman fan, but he stated that he liked Batman and Robin's Bane rather than TDRK's Bane just because in B&R, Bane is Hispanic, while in TDRK, it's not...

... Obviosly a smart Bane.

Batman and Robin was an (altough unintentially hilarous) abomination of a Batman movie, and they totally screwed Bane in that one...

And i just go ahead and say, that i think i speak for everyone on this site when saying that :).

You caught the accent from the DKR trailer to be British? Interesting...

But easily a brilliant and calculating Bane over an imbecile.

Tom Hardy seems to have an acumen for accents, although people seem to have an opinion of a character before they've seen the whole extent of the character's portrayal. It's still a silly question.

i have changed the question..

@count_me_in:

Its been a rather long time since i saw Batman & Robin, but was Banes ethnicity ever confirmed or explained in the movie?

I just remember him being the borderline mute muscle of Poison Ivy. He was created to be some super soldier sold to the dude with the largest wallet or something.

I would rather a bane done right.

Smart Bane.

Bane in Batman and Robin was horrible... Though he did LOOK more like he does in the comics.

But that doesn't matter when you straight up f*ck up a character like that.

You really shouldn't bother what other people prefer in a character.

This should really be two questions:

  • British accent or Hispanic accent?
  • Smart or brutish?

By tying the two questions together you make unfortunate implications about race, regardless if that's intended or not.

I'll answer fodigg's questions cause I like them better (no offense OP): 1. I prefer the Hispanic accent because it's the voice I hear when I read Bane. 2. Can't we have both? Bane's prooved to be an excellent strategist, but when he goes in there and whoops Batman's ass with his immense strength, it makes me happy.
