    Back In Black

If you are wondering, why there has not been many Avengers reviews... it's mainly because for the past several months, the team has been teleporting to random events in the future... and the review would be like three pages just to catch you up. However, we are back.... kind of? This issue takes place eight months in the future, which is as close to the present we've been since the past .... you still with me? Shield has taken over the Avengers and there is a man hunt for the Illuminati, which is a secret group of Avengers who have been destroying worlds in order to try and save it, but the secret is out... and it's time to pay the piper... with your ass! (ya, that's what I'm going with)

The one thing I like about Shield running the Avengers is that everyone matches, and I'm also a huge fan of black. Everyone looks badass because black is the new fucking black. We don't get any answers as to what has happened these past eight months, but writer Jonathan Hickman is a very slow burn kind of guy, but everything will pay off in the end. We get to see that not everything is so doom and gloom, as Cannon Ball has moved off world and started a family. I know it's a small thing, but I love character moments, and moving their personal stories forward. While we are seeing what these characters are up too, we also get a sense that they are re-grouping for something, but we are not told what.. not just yet anyway.

I am also happy to see Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, front and center in this story. She is mainly in the action scenes, but I feel she is one of Marvel's best characters and Hickman does a great job writing her. The action scenes are my favorite, and that may be because there are four artists on the book. Normally that would take me out of a book, if the art suddenly changes, but they do a good job of changing artists at dramatic scene changes to make it feel less jarring. However, the art during the fight scenes are clearly the best.

This issue is a solid setup and if you have been reading Avengers and New Avengers, you know shit is about to go down, and we may have another Civil War type event, but only with the Avengers... and focused around the Avengers that Marvel Studio's owns like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man. I don't believe that is a coincidence. So remember this review in like 5-10 years when it comes true, and I'm all like "remember that one time, on the internet when I said things" and people will tell me to shut up, and keep my arms and legs inside the ride at all times... I'm at Six Flags in this joke ... okay fine.. I'm home alone on the couch watching Futurama... way to crush my dreams.
