When Bishop travels back to the present in search of intel that will aid his search for Cable and the mutant baby, he’s intercepted by the X-Force! With Cyclops eagerly waiting to interrogate his former comrade, it would appear that the game is over for the time-traveling cop. So why is Bishop smiling? What trick does he have up his sleeve? And what does this mean for Cable and the baby?

After looking at these images and seeing how the Baby Mutant's hair is growing, I'm wondering if this little girl is someone we already know. After all this time, she still doesn't have a name (at least I don't think so, I still have to read issue #5). This mutant is supposed to save mutantkind, right? Well...what if this baby was really a certain other red-haired female mutant we all know and haven't seen around for a while? Maybe that's why Cable's so compelled to protect her. Or maybe I'm just crazy.
But not as crazy as that Ape variant cover!
The X-Men Join Cable’s War!
After the status quo shattering Messiah CompleX, Cable found himself on the run through time with the new mutant child and now the X-Men make a move to aid him! In the extra-sized Cable #6, featuring a longer story from acclaimed novelist Duane Swierczynski (Immortal Iron Fist), along with artists Ariel Olivetti and Michel Lacombe, presents a story of a father and son separated by generations, but sharing the same mission—saving mutantkind. In the present, Cyclops looks for a sign that he made the right decision, while in the future, his son Cable is still on the run from his former ally Bishop. What will Cyclops & The X-Men do to help Cable? Will it be enough? And will he come to regret it?
Additionally, to celebrate Marvel’s landmark simian series, Marvel Apes, debuting in September, this issue features a Monkey Variant cover by legendary artist Rob Liefeld!
Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Cable #6, an X-Men: Manifest Destiny tie-in and perfect jumping on point for new readers! Wrapped up in a gorgeous cover by Adi Granov, and tying into current X-Men events, no X-fan should miss the extra-sized Cable #6!

I've always liked Cable. I will admit I only picked up Cable & Deadpool occasionally. I like Deadpool (almost) as much as the next guy but you have to admit, he can get annoying. But this Cable comic intrigues me. I'm assuming he'll be in the future. Wonder how long he'll stay there. Hopefully the comic won't just be about him being a single dad, trying to raise a baby, changing diapers and all that. He'll return to the "present" at some point. Plus he has to return with the kid so she can do whatever she does to mess up Bishop's future.
My main reason would be in the hopes that we'll finally find out what the heck her name is!
After his surprising role in Messiah CompleX, Cable must now protect the child who will save mutantkind- no matter the cost! In Cable #1, the dynamic creative team of acclaimed novelist Duane Swierczynski (Moon Knight Annual, Punisher: Force Of Nature) and red-hot penciler Ariel Olivetti (Punisher War Journal) reveal just where—and when—Cable has journeyed in the quest to save his people. But just who is on his trail? And why won’t they stop till Cable’s blood is spilt? An X-Men: Divided We Stand tie-in, Cable #1 reveals the true cost of Messiah CompleX to mutankind and just what this child means for the future! Plus, Cable co-creator Rob Liefeld provides a stunning variant cover to kick off this hotly anticipated ongoing series!
"Cable is a core thread of the second stage of the war that began in Messiah CompleX -- a battle for nothing less than the future of mutantkind," says X-Men Group Editor Axel Alonso. "At the heart of the story: two battle-tested men, driven by deep conviction and prepared to do anything to complete their objective -- including calling on help from old friends. So make no mistake: The war over the future of mutantkind will be fought in the future -- in the pages of Cable-- and when it is finally over, who knows what will return to the present."
Now you can also experience Cable’s earliest, action-packed adventures in Cable Classic Vol.1 TPB, collecting the time-travelers earliest adventures and his classic battles with Stryfe! Featuring the X-Men, New Mutants and Warriors Three of Thor, this is a can’t-miss for fans of Nathan Christopher Summers!
Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Cable and all Divided We Stand tie-ins, as the buzz around the X-Men titles continues to grow! Now that Cable has escaped with the new mutant child, is there any place—or time—where they’ll be safe? And just how does this affect Cyclops, Cable’s father, and the rest of the X-Men? Find out beginning in Cable #1!
