Cable/Cap & Wolverine/Hulk
The Overview: The First in the new run of team up series from marvel centering on the Avengers & X-men series.
The Good: I have to say i went into this with a pretty grim outlook, books like this typically don't appeal to me. I must say however that both stories were very entertaining, they provided some good laughs and enjoyable moments. I especially liked the first story with Cable & Cap, it gave a much more modern reflection on what Bucky was in history. I don't want to spoil to much of course but it was good, the second story too seemed a bit shorter at least to me. Still the Hulk and Wolverine team up was enjoyable and provided a good laugh or two, it also amazingly seemed to leave a sort of cliff hanger. That was honestly something i was very surprised about. The Art in both stories were good and they were similar enough it didn't cause a drastic change from story to story and kept it fluid like it should be in one book.
The Bad: OK the entire reason i don't really like Team Up books is they don't seem to carry any real weight in the over all scheme of things. I know it seems pity but since they are just random short stories by writers who may or may not normally write these characters (such as Dan Slott writing Cap, Bucky & cable) they don't really move forward character development or cause any major changes to anything. They are nice fun stories but don't carry much weight, i find it hard to spend my hard earned money on these types of stories. Also another thing that kind of bugged me is both stories were time traveling stories, which just seemed silly. I am not sure why but it seemed like time travel is suppose to be something rare yet both these stories used it, so next week do we have two alien invasion stories?
The Verdict: I can't sit here and tell you i didn't enjoy reading the stories in this book, however i can not lie and tell you i will be adding this book to my pull list either. Being a man of limited funds i wouldn't suggest this to be a regular buy to anyone in a similar place, if you like character development and want your book to progress and matter then you should totally avoid it. However if you just like a nice read from time to time, and enjoy things such as A babies vs X Babies or Deadpool kills the Marvel U, then this is a book you want to check out.
