AvX Vs itself...
While the hunt and attempt to control/kill the Phoenix continues in the main series, we focus instead on 2 interesting fights that occur in issue 4 of AvX.
THE GOOD
The art is great for both portions (Though it is sad when the art of a sub tie in series is better than the main arc... Damn the blight that is Romita Jr.). Action is very easy to follow and has a lot of details. And the dialog was very well written (weird, for a comic about fighting), the Spider Man banter in his portion was nicely done and humorous on most account (sadly, the same can't be sad for the little fun facts).
THE BAD
Sadly, where this comic fails is the actual endings to the fights. For all the action and work that go into the fights, this series doesn't know how to end a fight well. It seems like the parts are there for a great fight, and the ideas that go behind attacks is okay, but no one knows how to tie them together well. Hell, the ending to the second portion isn't even an ending.
VERDICT
While its known that this series wasn't going to the top tier Marvel comic series, its depressing that they can't even get the point of the premise down, instead, sadly, letting the action fall flat in the home stretch to the finish. While the art does help make it a good read for the first 3/4's of the fight, and its great to see how some characters would take on others, someone does need to come in and help tie focus into the endings. Its still worth a look, but just doubtful on its worth as a purchase.
