Honored Fallen Lantern of the planet Rhoon Edit
The planet Rhoon was a world locked in an ideological struggle between two warring cultures fighting for supremacy. Many decades in the past, the ruling scientists of Rhoon had banished the magic users to a tiny island.
This exile did not solve the different philosophies pervading through Rhoon culture. One group embraced science as the future of the planet, while the other group sought to advance society through the practice of sorcery.
The Green Lantern Avir appeared to the people of Rhoon as a practitioner of magic. No one knew the truth that Avir’s power ring was actually one of the most sophisticated pieces of scientific engineering in the universe. To avoid the prejudices of her community of sorcerers, Avir disguised the ring as "green magic". Avir used her “green magic” to protecting both populaces from destroying themselves.
Avir led a long and distinguished career as a Green Lantern. In her later years, Avir came to the rescue of a flaming starship, plummeting from orbit. Avir caught up to the blazing aircraft and rescued a young child from certain death in fiery destruction. The child was unharmed, but her scientist parents were killed in the crash.
Avir took the young girl named Hollika Rahn as an apprentice. To protect the child from unjust prejudices Avir hid Holika’s scientific background from the sorcerers on the island.
Avir continued her duties as a Green Lantern for many years while raising her adopted daughter. Upon Avir's death, the Guardians of the Universe approved Hollika Rahn as her successor.
