Okay, first of all, I'm talking about ALL the Dark Knight and DC fans here - Avengers is pretty much aimed at everyone, ALL ages - Now, I might be in the Avengers forum but I'm talking to you DC fans - Look at last years Green Lantern, it wasn't kiddy, it was shitty. Actually, it was both - How about Warner Bros make a Justice League movie eh? Let's see how childish that would be - I'm literally sick of those DC fans saying that Avengers was childish, just because it made the box office, and that they're just freakin' worried about how Dark Knight Rises will do later this year. All right, I'm ready for any trolls who decide to comment and be smart asses. Let's hear it.
Avengers
Team » Avengers appears in 7704 issues.
The Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes and foremost super-team... "There came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born - to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand! Heed the call, then - for now, the Avengers Assemble!"
Why are people saying that Avengers is a "kid" movie?

+1 Follow from me, sir.
Oh, so you wanna mess with DC fans huh, you think your big stuff now just cause you got the Avengers well
And Cap looked like he was wearing a onesie.
Childish, no. Then again, I did recommend my boss take her grandkids to see it.
Marvel vs. DC fans? Really? I don't think anyone really cares how much money these movies make. We'd rather see good movies (and Avengers delivered).
And BTW, why are people still complaining about Avengers?!? It met if not EXCEEDED expectations and I thank Joss Whedon for giving the world such an awesome movie. AND TDKR will be awesome too, the money doesn't even matter, so long as us fans get the films we deserve...
I wouldn't call it a general "kids movie" but it was safer for children than a lot of other comic films tend to be
Btw I'm a Dark Knight fan too - I just hate the Dark Knight fans who keep saying Marvel is crap, cos I'm more on the Marvel side anyways - see, I was being honest...
@Superguy0009e: Looks like the Avengers know to look to the sky because it's a bird, it's a plane it's
Oh dear...We can't just like movies from both companies?
And no, The Avengers was not a "kids movie." It was child-friendly. It proved that not everything has to be dark and gritty to be appreciative.
And for the record: I like DC's comics more than I like Marvel's comics, but that has nothing to do with how I feel about the movies. Green Lantern sucked. Fantastic Four sucked. The Dark Knight was epic. Iron Man was awesome. Both companies have their hits and their misses. It just so happens that when DC misses, they miss hard. Hopefully they've learned from the mistake that GL was and they've learned something from the Avengers, so that we can see Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, Flash, and even the Justice League get their due. Until then, try to enjoy what we're getting, and be thankful that these movies are even possible. Now. Sit down, shut up, and watch the movies that they made for us.
Thankyou Gambit1024! Finally, another "mature" person on our views on both companies - and no, I'm not being sarcastic, I totally agree with you - But as of right now, I think the competition is within the movies, because after Avengers, DC has made it TOO noticeable that they're trying hard to compete, which pisses me off - and as I mentioned, MOST of the population of DC fans are trolling Avengers, just because it did well, so I swear, if anymore DC fans come in here and say "I'm a DC fan and Avengers wasn't kiddy" - then don't bother commenting - I've already heard it before - no offence Gambit, I agree with a lot of what you said.
@Superguy0009e: The Justice League arrives and Flash runs the Kryptnite to the other side of the planet
And so once again good sir IT'S ON

marvel rules ! still looking forward to amazing spider-man and TDKR.
avengers is just a great comicbook movie and good movie in general. batman= DC only and always. Marvel= we have the avengers franchise and a hulk & DC you only have batman and ryan reynolds.
@venomyak: Batman and Superman show up to the Barbbeque with coleslaw full of vengance and a nice cold picture of whup @ss
I've seen people say this on extremely fanboy driven sites like comicbookmovie.
People just say this to make themselves feel better about all the success the Avengers received. And there is a clear difference from something being for all ages and something being for kids. Let's be real, a PG-13 movie cannot be solely for kids. It's just fanboy rhetoric.
The definition of "for kids" and "mature" is up for debate. I'm in my 30's, and the Marvel film approach is certainly my preferred approach. I'll go so far as to say that I see a certain immaturity in the Nolan Batman approach. Some weird desire to make a comic superhero "realistic" in a way that is still utterly unrealistic. Can a single person say any single minute of the Dark Knight was plausible? Isn't it more mature to say these are fantasy characters and then go with it?
I like mature, adult movies, but I often prefer them on DVD at this point. In the theater, I prefer films that enjoy themselves and make use of the extreme environments. I suppose other comic uber-nerds are demanding hyper realistic adult super-hero movies... maybe one where Thor pays taxes... or Captain America suffers from the banality of daily life. That would be "not for kids", wouldn't it? Regardless, any comparison with the Dark Knight is a joke, since that movie is the epitome of a teen boy's ejaculation. Just consider how many "Why so serious?" sigs and avatars we've put up with in the past few years. Those weren't done by adults (I hope).
Whoever is complaining that the Avengers is for kids most likely lacks some life experience, and are making up for things by being "mature." I suggest they go watch that 'mature' flick about a guy dressed in leather fighting crime...

THIS. REPEATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN UNTIL FANBOYS FROM BOTH SIDES STFU!!!
Aside from a few curse words, I'd say The Avengers can be enjoyed by all ages. I went the first time to see the movie with my parents and they enjoyed it as much as I did.
@BlackArmor: So it begins . . . we must call on a cow's worst nightmare.
Laquina Jackson! Eater of cows!
I'm a huge Marvel fan, but I liked Chris Nolan's Batman movies. I havent heard people call Avengers a children's movie, but I'd assume they're saying Marvel and DC to say its for children just because it has super heroes and the sort. That just helps back what everybody says about comic books in general being just for kids. The people who say the Avengers is for kids are just stupid DC fanboys that like to troll people, which obviously isn;t every DC fan, just the idiotic ones.
@Nightcrawler23: She would eat Bat-Cow? She shall eat nothing, Grodd shall see how she likes being eaten
The Avengers was planned ever since Nick Fury "suggested" the Avengers Initiative to take place at the end of Iron Man. I think that the team itself has great chemistry. I can't really imagine Batman ,Superman and Green Lantern looking as badass or well-suited to each other as the Avengers. I was worried that not all the characters wouldn't get enough screentime but in Whedon we trust. Such an awesome movie! I loved the "Man Out Of Time" arc for Cap. Tony keeps finding more elaborate ways to take his suits on and off. Thor "BROUGHT THE THUNDER!" (Sorry). Ruffalo played a good Banner in my opinion. I enjoyed how similar they made Hulk to look like Banner. Hawkeye and Black Widow annihilated the "our only powers are special skills and general badassery" role. They also had an epic main villain LOKI ,and had enough Chitauri as cannon-fodder to allow everyone to have their moment to shine. I doubt that the Justice League could ever be as Awesome as the Avengers. (My Opinion) I guess the Marvel Characters are just more relatable than DC.

The Best movie coming out next year
Uh-huh.....
I'm a fan of both DC and Marvel, and I loved The Avengers. I wasn't aware that the more obsessive DC fans had a stigma towards The Avengers, but then again, I don't keep a very close eye on the comic book community (first post in a comic book forum, in fact). However I assume a lot of people generally look at super hero movies as intended for kids because the stereotype is that comic books are only for kids and nerds. Which is, of course, untrue.
When it comes to the more obsessive DC fans, it's probably because of how incredibly dark the Dark Knight movies were, which makes The Avengers look comparatively more childish. Maybe. I don't know, I'm a history student, not a social analyst.
