Through the years the Avengers have had good and bad writers. Here is a list of some of the well known ones. Who do you feel falls under what category? Stan Lee. Roy Thomas, Steve Engleheart, Jim Shooter, David Michelinie, Roger Stern,John Bryne, Bob Harris, Kurt Busiek, and Brian Bendis.

I'm glad I'm not the only person around who doesn't really care for Bendis' writing... I'm new to comics though so I couldn't actually say who I would think would be the best of that list based off experience; I hope more people post here to give me a better idea of what era I should look into picking up though maybe.
