Avengers
Team » Avengers appears in 7704 issues.
The Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes and foremost super-team... "There came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born - to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand! Heed the call, then - for now, the Avengers Assemble!"
Who do you think never should have become an Avenger?
Falcon for one. And none of the Xmen should be Avengers
I agree. Wolverine as an Avenger?? Really?? Yup nobody from X-men should be on this team
Anybody from X-men, Anybody from Fantastic Four. Just anybody who is already associated with their own team really. X-men characters should just stay with their own team Excluding SW and QS, same with FF characters, Thing, Invisible Woman and Reed are all avengers. Like I said anybody who is already is marked in their own team and let the Marvel characters who usually have their own standalone times join the team like Hercules, that was great.

Agreed, that's one of my main problems with Bendis' run.

Pure true
Anyone that wasn't an Avenger before.
Definitely Wolverine and Spider-Man. I felt that they were better off as loners or in the case of Wolverine, better off with the X-Men.
Wolverine- He doesn't belong and doesn't deserve to be an avenger.
Any Member of the X-Men- C'mon they are all mutants. Just stay associated with your own team and stay off a better team (The avengers)
Spider-Man- Most popular hero in Marvel why not be with them right? But for me like all of you he doesn't belong in that team either.
Red Hulk/Rulk- Really? I thought that was a really dumb idea.
Fantastic Four Members- Better off without them
I'm okay with Wolverine being an Avenger. He's always been a journeyman, moving from one place, one job to the next. When he was done with Alpha Flight, he moved on to the X-men. If there's a split between him and the X-men for some reason, I don't mind seeing him join the Avengers, as long as it makes sense and it's not done to take advantage of Logan's popularity (that means he shouldn't be an X-man and an Avenger at the same time).
@darthmummy: I find he's a terrible fit he's an anti hero that clashes with Cap the two have history of a hateful rivalry.

Oh wow. Hard to argue with that.
There're other Rivalries
Captain Marvel and Rogue
Captain America and Cyclops
All the X-men members, stay in your own corner of titles.
Spider-Man, I like him better with the Fantastic Four.
Anti Heroes in general Examples: Punisher and Elektra
Ghost Riders.
Has GR ever joined the team?

No, it was merely added in hopes he's never invited to the team.
Wolverine and Storm: Publicity stunt. Storm fits the team a little better than Wolverine, but really, they were thrown on the team to cash in on the X-Men movie popularity.
Spider-Man: I remember a scene when Spider-Man had too much on his own plate to stick around for a big Avengers meeting. Swordsman called him a coward, and Hawkeye told Swordsman to shove it. Thing is, if three Avengers went with him, they could have been back in two hours with Spider-Man's current villain problem solved.
'Cosmic' heroes. Dr. Strange, Quasar, and others that should be about problems much bigger than one little planet shouldn't really have time for the team.
Also, characters that are so powerful that they eclipse the entire team.
And lastly: New Teams that have the name 'Avengers' just to tie them in. Let there be some new team names.
I DO think that some of the New Mutants signing up makes sense. Once they 'graduate', a few going their own way was going to happen.
Out of all the heroes out there that have become Avengers in some capacity, the only one I think really, REALLY shouldn't be an Avenger is Captain Universe. Regardless of the threat and its nature, I think Captain Universe should remain completely independent of ANY mortal conflict because of the Enigma Force's story breaker power.
Spider-Man and Wolverine can work for certain sub-teams (a street level team and the uncanny and secret teams respectively) and I did an entire blog trying to explain why I think Hulk works better without the Avengers (long story short, the Avengers mythos simply conflicts with the Hulk mythos) but Hulk should be a part of the Avengers ORIGIN story. Captain Universe however just clashes with the usual Marvel antics period.
@metacomix: I agree. I have always wondered how certain Heroes would be perceived in different universes and I have always thought that if Iron Man was in DC he would not be accepted by the heroes or even as a hero period. I feel like Superman and other characters with strict non flexible moral codes that Iron Man might even be seen as more toward a villain
I think sometimes when a property (like Avengers or X-Men) gets too hot or popular it has a negative effect because then Marvel acts like a crack-cocaine junkie in the Miami club scene. They bloat the holy hell out of the team and attach any and everything to it to the point where the idea and the core roster (or type of roster) is barely recognizable after a while.
@comic_bruh777: Batman created OMAC and Tower of Babel story. They still accept him.
@tigerkaya: true that's a good angle to look at it from but on the other hand I feel like they trust Bruce and see him responsible enough to carry plans of their defeat of they should ever go bad. Tony on the other hand I don't feel would get the same respect. He comes off as quite the opposite makes rash and irresponsible decisions and quite frankly can't be trusted
Spider-Man
Wolverine (and for that matter, all of the X-Men except Beast)
The Fantastic Four
Sandman, The Thing, and Havok should return as Avengers.
With the exception of Uncanny Avengers, who had a specific point in recruiting X-Men, Storm & Wolverine didn't really belong, and were obvious cash grabs from the movie success. (Sunspot and Cannonball 'growing up' and choosing to break away DID fit a bit better.)
Starbrand, just due to overwhelming power. He doesn't really have a long term place.
Spider-Man, while good for an arc, again doesn't have the long term appeal as a team member, and again, was an obvious grab from movie success.
Might Avengers seemed like an attempt to make a primarily 'black' Avengers team, but throwing Blade in there just seemed a little weird.
But that said, there are too many 'Avengers' teams. Tacking the word into to many places just cheapens it and robs it of meaning. Great Lakes had to drop it for a good reason. Let some teams spread their wings and fly on their own.
