It can either be a team which has already existed, actual member of the Avengers or even people who aren't on the Avengers that you want there. Also you can pick however many you want, I just picked 5 because I felt like it :), but try not to pick any more than ten lol.

1) Captain America (What the hell are the Avengers without him?)
2) Iron Man (Pretty much the same as Capt., and provides some needed muscle)
3) Black Panther (One of the coolest heroes ever, and just a badass)
4) Hawkeye (I just love the guy....he runs with the big dogs and doesn't have any powers or fancy equipment like Iron Man)
5) Thor ( A God...no team is ever complete with a huge powerhouse, and plus he is the Norse God of Thunder, how cool is that?)

The New Avengers have had some pretty cool stories since it's inception,  and the first few arcs of Mighty Avengers was great! But the classic volume of Avengers is the best! Most anything before issue #300, and anything of George Perez, Kurt Busiek, and Geoff John's run (all vol. 3)  is great!

Another forum, another make your own Avenger's team thread. Hooray! Limiting myself to eight (sort of) and members who last time I read were alive.

 Main Team
Hank Pym (I just can't get myself to call him the Wasp): Sort of leader.
Monica Rambeau: Real leader.
Ms Marvel: Liaison with the powers that be (whether new SHIELD, US govt, UN).
Hercules: He's funny.
Justice: I have no idea what he's doing right now but he needs to become an Avenger again.
Firebird: Another character I want to see more of.
Dakan: Wolverine stand in. A chance to reform.
Spiderwoman: Hero again.

Reservists
Iron Man: Pym's reservist. Way to claw himself back to hero status.
Vision: Monica's reservist.
Sentry: Ms Marvel's reservist. On team to continue his rehabilitation.
Stature: Hercule's reservist.
Quasar: Justice's reservist. Link to cosmic threats and tutor to Bob. 
Firestar: Firebird's reservist.
Wolverine: Dakan's reservist. Keeps eye on his son. Also every title needs Wolverine in it according to Marvel.
Spiderman:  Spiderwoman's reservist. I really like Spiderman's quips and what not but prefer them in small doses.
