For Avengers villains specifically, I'd go with Kang, but both Loki and Doom are just perfect villains in general, so very close seconds.

Doctor Doom. He's one of the few perfect villains. Tragic, the smartest comic book character ever written, always has great dialogue, conniving, fearsome...One of the villains I actually ROOT for when fighting the Fantastic Four. (Also root for Poison Ivy, Gorilla Grodd, Harley Quinn and Bane)

Kang the Conqueror. He has become my favorite villain after reading Kang Dynasty and Avengers Forever. I'm still hoping he comes back in a big way with Uncanny Avengers over the next couple months.

Plus, no one looks as good as Kang lounging in a floating bean bag chair.

@v_scarlotte_rose: Interesting choices though I would have Kang or Zemo as the King given how the two manipulate their subjects while Ultron even being more well known has always striker me as the Rook.

@tigerkaya: I think I'd probably agree with that. The thing is, the set I put together was just made up of my own personal preference characters rather than ones that properly represented the Avengers and their villains in general. I like Kang, but he just didn't make the cut for some reason.

@jokerpoker: I always found Loki to be the Starscream of Marvel: shrill voice, a large fanbase of fan girls, terrified of powerful father figures begging for mercy (yes comic Loki has begged for mercy), and so close to success but loses it all in seconds. I think making him an anti hero is a good choice for him.

Went with Kang, Ultron is my close second. Others on this list I think of as predominantly villains for other heroes (e.g., Dr. Doom, Annihilus) even though they've been opposed by the Avengers their share of times.

Loki isn't my favorite Avengers Villain, but favorite villain period.

Ultron at a distant second.

I love Doom as much as the next guy, but I don't exactly think of him as an Avenger villain.
