That would be awesome, I'd love to see a version of the Masters of Evil in the movie, but that wouldn't really work since most people wouldn't have any idea who most of those villains are in the first place and Marvel doesn't want to waste time explaining origins in the Avengers movie, which is why they're setting everything else up in other films so they can get to the action with the whole team together in the Avengers.
I heard something about the Kree, and then some stuff about the Skrull, not sure if any official announcements have been made though, but I think it's going to be one BIG threat that can only be stop by the heroes uniting together to face the foe that none of them can defeat alone.
I'm thinking Skrull/Chitauri invasion, similar to the Ultimates or Ultimate Avengers: The movie. Maybe with roots the the Kree/Skrull conflict. Maybe the Avengers come together to stop a rampaging Hulk, but get stopped by some Kree hero(Captain Marvel or Noh-Var) and get told about the impending invasion. They all come together in the end, including Hulk, to repel the Skrulls

This would be more correct with the Avengers origin, but it depends on how Thor ends. Think about it, if Loki ends up getting his butt beat bu Thor in his movie, would people really take him as a threat against a whole team of heroes (including Thor) after just getting beat by just ONE hero? @biggkeem89 said:

I think it will come off more like the Ultimates, with the Avengers being a government formed team of superheroes to help protect the world from other super-human threats that seem to be popping up more and more lately (Abomination, Iron Monger/Whiplash, HYDRA, ect).
@War Killer: Well he'll obviously get his butt handed to him in Thor =P
But he'll most definitely have something to do with the overall plot of the Avengers as a villain (maybe not in this movie, but in a sequel to come). Ultimately, I think it'll probably be a Skrull invasion.
