I want to start reading Marvel Now's Uncanny Avengers an Uncanny X-Men, but I've never read an Avengers or X-Men comic. Is it possible to do this without being completely lost, or do I need to catchup? And if so, how do I catchup quickly?

Hey guy, i'm a new reader as well. I started with the AvX event which leads into Uncanny Avengers and Uncanny X-Men and I wasn't too lost. You should be fine and any of the things you may be confused about can usually be taken care of a quick wiki search on say a certain character you've never seen before. Hope this helps!

I've read a lot (as is most) X-men and Avengers comics, and I think that both Uncanny X-Men and Uncanny Avengers (which I highly recommend) do a good job of establishing the relevant current histories needed to appreciate their respective stories fairly early on.

If you're more curious about either one, reading either House of M or Avengers Vs. X-Men wouldn't hurt, but I don't think it's essential either.
