    Last week's other mystery role -- Nick Fury's sidekick -- will be S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill and Cobie Smulders (How I met your mother) will most likely get the part, according to Deadline. "Smulders wasn't completely unknown to [Director Joss] Whedon. In fact, he liked her as a candidate for 'Wonder Woman' when he was working on that superhero film," writes Deadline's Mike Fleming. Meanwhile, the Yvonne Strahovski fansite Strahotski.net (via Comic Book Movie) offers this interesting rumor: "I've just received information from a protected source inside Marvel that points to Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) being cast in the upcoming Avengers movie as Ms. Marvel."

    Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012 

     I love these two characters and these two actresses so I'm all for it!!

    I really like Yvonne Strahovski but I'm not sure that she would be ideal as Ms. Marvel.

    yeah, she looks the part, I suppose, but I'm not convinced she's perfect either 
    but like all comicbook to movie casting choices, it'll be all about the way they're written first, and about the actor protraying them second

    if its true that's awesome but I cant see it Ms Marvel had nothing to do with the founding of the Avengers.

    they were in the Ult universe which is where they are taking alot of there ideas from

    In the Ult universe Carol Danvers is powerless and works for Shield so I could very well see them use that version though

    Colbie seems more like Janet to me, because she's so sweet seeming 
    but if Joss could see her as WW, she must be able to pull off the tougness 
    if Carol is in the movie....I REALLY hope she gets to be a badass and use some Ms. Marvelous powers

    Looks like its confirmed that Cobie Smulders is cast in the Avengers and is inking out a deal to be in up to 9 marvel films as someone who works closely with Nick Fury and eventually takes over command of SHIELD. I'm still kinda hoping it's a fake out and she's Wasp, we've got enough SHIELD agents if they're gonna add more they should at least be costumed agents like Mockingbird.

    Maria Hill and Black Widow are cool and all 
    but there needs to be a real badass chick on the team that can get stuff done
