I think that if it is one of the races from the nine realms, then that ship that it showed the shadow of approaching the city is probably some kind of steam powered air ship or a blimp, if not them, then Hydra maybe.
Thanos or Hydra,most likly Hydra (problly Loki steals the cosmic cube and gives it to Hydra and they bring back the Red Skull and he uses the cube aginst the Avengers.) Marvel Just Tell Us Who They Are............
Actually, if you remember the last villain scenes of Thor and Captain America, I say:
The Red Skull never actually touched the cosmic cube until the end, and the cosmic cube power is to bend and alter reality in order to get you what you wish, with the Red Skull not knowing that and zero experience, he could be wishing for a way to accomplish his goals, to destroy Captain America and let Hydra take over the world.
At the end of Thor, Loki falls into a misteriously-sudden-appear black hole that closes after him.
See where I'm getting at? From the Earth the Red Skull vanishes in a flash of light that launches UPWARDS. From the "heavens" (Asgard) Loki falls DOWNWARDS in a black hole.
Could that means to accomplish what he wishes will be that race or whatever other mayor villains Loki is going to use in the Avengers movie? Maybe they both landed in Muspelhiem or Nidavellir or Vanaheim
Can't say that I'm dishearted by this; I mean how would they work them into this, it's not like had any way to seamlessly bring them into the loop until the avengers are at least able to work out some of the kinks in the relationship.
Its from the cancelled Avengers videogame. The leaked footage looked awesome but it in NO way means that the same villains in the videogame are the same as the movie.
I could see another race (Kree, Phalanx, Shi'ar, Dire Wraiths, etc.) being the villains, and them just retconning that they come from one of the nine realms.
i reallty hope it's not like loki gets alot of random guys like the dark elves or wolves would guess hydra but hydra would be weird to show up again even if strucker or zemo were running things coz they dont put strucker in as skulls right hand man dat was zola n cant see him running things to be honest

Yeah... the Green Lantern movie had a tie in with a game about Manhunters... no Manhunters in the GL movie.
He didn't say it WAS DEFINITELY a race from one of the nine realms, he only replied that it was 'closer to that' than the Kree. Still pretty vague.
I also don't get how in the same sentence he says "we want to hide it", yet, "the identity of the alien race is not impactful"?
Don't know anything about Chitauri, so I googled them and just reading their wiki makes me think they are a prime candidate. Connections to Nazis? Stories involving Iron Man, Thor, and SHIELD? Particular plot that involved Black Widow and Hawkeye? Captain America and the Hulk taking on a Nazi Chitauri agent known as Herr Kleiser? Makes sense!
