Joss Whedon finally speaks more about The Avengers and Ant-Man

In a nutshell, he says the Nathon Fillian (sp?) rumor is false and Ant-Man will NOT be in the Avengers film. He also goes into how The Avengers will be a broken family and that everyone fills a role. Cap and Iron Man will not get along and (judging by what he says) may end to some sort of fight between the two.

See I'm not too thrilled about Ant-Man's not being in te Avengers. I mean he was there from day one in the comics, ya know? And if there's no Pym then there'll definitely be no Wasp which ALSO means that this Avengers team will have no women members (which is gonna suck if they don't fix that).

I agree that the Avengers should be a broken family. I mean like Whedon said they are COMPLETELY different heroes. I can see Iron Man basically dismissing everything Cap says and just doing his own thing as I could also see Hulk trying to show Thor that he's the strongest one there is (the hard way). I think it could be a fun experience, but I just hope they're not dumb about it.

The lack of Ant-Man is a disappointment, unless they decided to make him Giant Man instead...
Anyhow, I'm really hoping for some character-conflict: Hulk vs Thor and Iron Man and such.

@Shadowdoggy: If Iron Man 1 and 2 were good, along side the Hulk, then I've no doubt that this will be a fantastic film.
May I be hit by a bus if I'm wrong (but still live).

I hate the news that Hank won't be there, may I remind people who it was that pulled Captain America out of the water?

I might be reading too much into it but Joss just said Ant-Man isn't in the film, but that don't mean Hank Pym might not be. Remember Pym has at least 3 more superhero identites. I'm just still being hopeful here.

Yeah but Black Widow isn't a TRUE Avenger (to me anyway...) I need someone like Wasp or Scarlet Witch or even Ms. Marvel. Black Wiow is a great character, but I felt ripped-off about her appearence in Iron Man 2.

Maybe Pym is gonna appear as a SHIELD scientist or something? Cause I know the Ant-Man film is supposed to be a spin-off from the Avengers and how do you have a spin-off without being first introduced by something?

so the complete cast was seen today at SDCC and while they confirmed Hawkeye and Hulk no word on Ant-man, Wasp or any other character, it seems the line-up is solid. I hate that Hank is left out.....again

I'm not a fan of ant man and he probably wouldn't be that marketable, I mean the guys just shrinks. Also they already have two resident brains with banner and stark, so I'm not bothered by this.
