I always wondered how do Avengers like Captain America, Hawkeye, and Ms.Marvel make money. I really am beginning to think that Spider-Man is the only superhero with a legit job?

    - The Avengers are funded by a charitable trust set up by Tony Stark (Maria Stark Foundation) which covers all team related expenses, including paychecks for the full time members.

I think...post civil war? I'm probably wrong, I'm not very informed on my marvel knowledge, I just recall reading it somewhere...@Gambit1024 said:

Stark is all but broke right not....he stated in the beginning of New Avengers that the Foundation was broke and couldn't afford to pay the Avengers anymore....they're now paid by SHIELD or whatever it's called these days...with the exception of Spider-man who won't reveal his identity to the government for them to write the checks to him

Captain America just lives of the interest from his bank account. Hawkeye turns tricks in Circuses. Ms Marvel sells her old, well used thigh high boots on the internet, often making up to 2000% profit for what she paid of them. Wonder Man does commercials in Japan. D-Man has a sign and busks, She Hulk is a lawyer, bounty hunter. Luke Cage part times as a male escort. Beast sells his fur to the guys who make Cookie Monster Puppets, and Tigra is a paid guest at many Furry conventions. Where there is a will there is a way.

    - I remember Stark being personally "broke" or at least what passes for broke for him considering we still see him building armors, but not the Foundation.

    - How did he get Avengers Mansion repaired to sell it to Cage for $1 then?

According to Bendis's New Avengers it's "hard to write a check for someone who has a secret identity." So he doesn't get paid.

Easy solution. Open up a Spider-man bank account and put the money in there. It's the government, I'm sure they could do that easily. There we go, I'm already a better writer than Bendis.

They used to get paid, not so sure at the moment. In Avengers #189, Hawkeye is replaced on the team and then has to go and get a real job. He ends up working, still as Hawkeye, as a security agent for a company.

It occasionally changes, originally it was funded by Tony Stark, then through the Government.

Add that to the money the government pay them, the media endorsements, and them probably having jobs while off duty.

And having superhero friends, like the Fantastic Four who have money

Captain America is a paid soldier for the United States government, should be a general. Plausible sources of income could easily derride from endorsements, private donations, mystical means if your Dr. Strange, pirating off resources from super-criminals, commercials, legal businesses, contracts..maybe they rip off Dr. Doom's treasury for all his war crimes by Latveria. Better question would be how the Masters of Evil get their money and why their organizations name (M.O.E.) sounds so stupid after over 50 years.

Stark at one point paid them out of pocket. I think it was She-Hulk who gave him a shopping list in one issue. Don't remember for sure what was said but I do remember Stark talking about covering all Avengers cost and pay checks.
