Marvel will be ending 2012 with a bang -- and the release of Marvel NOW!'s new AVENGERS series by Jonathan Hickman, Jerome Opena and Dean White. We didn't know a whole lot about the new series save for the creators working on the books, until now.

Earlier today Marvel revealed covers to the series' first three issues featuring the awesome art of Dustin Weaver. Marvel's "big three" (Captain America, Iron-Man and Thor) are featured front and center on each cover, respectively, and are surrounded by a cast of characters that are sure to appear in the upcoming title. If you've been looking forward to seeing these three working together alongside the likes of Captain Marvel,Black Widow, Hawkeye, Wolverine, Hulk and many more, then this is definitely a title you will want to pick up.

According to Marvel editor Tom Brevoort, the upcoming team will feature a roster of up to 18 different characters. Now, Hickman has had plenty of experience writing a lot of characters in one book (take FANTASTIC FOUR and FF, for example), but that's definitely a lot, even for someone as talented as he is. It will be interesting to see him give each character enough panel time. What do you think of the interlocking covers to the first three issues of the upcoming series? I like the additions of Cannonball and Sunspot. I'm guessing the guy with the infinity symbol in the back is a new character.

I'm hoping one of the four characters who have yet to be revealed is Black Panther.

Wolverine and Spider-Man have plenty of books to themselves. Seeing them still on the Avengers is annoying. However a larger lineup is a big thing and the roster looks mostly superb with classic Avengers like Cap, Thor and Iron Man alongside Sunspot, Cannonball and Falcon, all lesser exposed characters. And there seems to be a new character to boot. Hopefully Vision, T'Challa and some more female members will be added. Finally, the Avengers has a bright future now Bendis has relinquished his grip on the Avengers titles.

Meh about a couple of members, but with that creative team it's definitely worth a try. Don't disappoint like Johns did Marvel.

Hope that Vision, Black Panther and Hank Pym are added to the team; I was also told Shang Chi would be a member so that would fill the other 4 characters.

Overall I'm very happy with this roster, most characters (besides wolverine and spider-man) are classic avengers or characters that haven't been over exposed, making the rooster feel diverse and fun. I'm particularly happy to see Captain Marvel on the team, been loving her own book. Interesting to see Green Hulk on the team, what's happening to Red? I'm starting to like Iron Man's new costume more, especially when not drawn by Greg Land, would've liked the new movie armor to derive from this look.

Love the logo too, very iconic and eye catching, glad to see plenty of different colours amongst the team, was not found of the "red and black" look shown from the initial promo image.

I'm really looking forward to this new Avengers book. I loved Hickman's work on FF and Fantastic Four. I've also been wanting to read something Avengers since the movie came out, but I'm not a big Bendis fan.

Cannonball, awesome! Though it makes me wonder why he's wearing a young x-men costume. Seems to me they should give him a new one?

Well technically Marvel Now! just does what the New 52 does on a smaller scale without erasing all the past continuity of the Marvel Universe. And Thor won't end up with Captain Marvel or any other female member he has nothing in common with :P

hmm...well this looks to be promising but i hope this book turns out great, alot of people (including myself) will pick up the book because of the awesome creative team, but a good creative team doesn't necessarily mean it'll be good, i mean just look at Geoff john's and Jim Lee's Justice League . i mean that's probably the best creative team Dc can throw and that series isnt as good as it SHOULD be!

so Im hoping this series will be good and i will stick with it first 6 issues.

It's still a smilar concept and you never know who might hook up with who. Hell, they might make Tony and Cap have feelings for each other at this point.

Black Widow and Hickman may sell me on picking up an Avengers book.

God have mercy on whomever put Wolverine in this book. Like it's going to have an issue selling without him on the title. At least Cannonball made the cut.

Yeah, this is nothing new. Hickman wasn't the least bit creative in choosing the roster at all.

I think it's a good (start of) the team. Not great, but good. However, I have full confidence in that Jonathan Hickman will write these characters great. If not fantastic.

Well i can't shake the felling that all this marvel now is a lame new 52 copy but i will try to trust hickman...even if i don't like the art on those covers.

I'll admit most of the lineup is kinda boring.

With Spidey and Wolverine don't belong and while i do like that Cap Marvel, Cannonball, Sunspot and Falcon are there to add something new to the team everybody body else seems to predictable.

I mean Hawkeye is leading the Secret Avengers and Black Widow is also in that and the inclusion here isn't welcome here for me.

Half I like, half I don't like but I am curious as to what Hickman will do.

Meh. Cannonball was an interesting choice that I could get behind, but still, Wolverine and Spidey aren't needed. Also, Sunspot brings nothing to the team, with Captain Marvel already accounting for Flight/Energy/Strength stuff. However, I do think the hidden guy is Ikaris, which'd be awesome.

Since Shang Chi has already been announced, I'm hoping for Black Panther, Hank Pym, Justice or Songbird.

It's a cool cover set, but I'm still waiting to see if Emma will still be around and in the X-Men. If not and Marvel killed her off. They wont be seeing my money for a good long while.

Yep! this covers reminded me of this awesome series and it's song. Really can't wait for avengers to come out and finally say goodbye to bendis for bothering us for all this time. Also loved the team which feels more like what earth's mightiest should be. Also i'm glad spidey is here since no matter what people say about him, he deserves to be with them for he has done as much or more than everyone there to earn a spot. Also love how epic this covers look as the team jumps into action from a shield hellicarrier.

I thought Cannonball and Sunspot would be on the Uncanny Avengers roster. Maybe they'll be on both.

Also, it seems like X-Men are joining the Avengers, while no Avengers are joining any X-books. Like I assumed, the Avengers are the ones be propped up and pushed.

Well, the refresh is likely in direct response to the DCnU. Except that Marvel is doing it the right way and not destroying their continuity in the process.

how does Spider-man having 2 solo books mean he has plenty of books to himself? Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Captain Marvel,and Hawkeye all appear in their own solo titles why should Spider-man be any different?

But the one near Thor is Sunspot or the Original HUman Torch??

Falcon and Cannonball are not good choices. I wonder who the chap behind Captain Marvel is. Wouldn't it be something if they threw in someone like Chamber!

I just realized that Uncanny Avengers and Avengers have pretty much identical mainstay rosters. Most of these characters have ongoing solo titles as well. So...wtf?
