Do you guys want another actress to take over as Black Widow or do you guys think Scarlett Johanson is good at the moment?
Avengers
Team » Avengers appears in 7704 issues.
The Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes and foremost super-team... "There came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born - to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand! Heed the call, then - for now, the Avengers Assemble!"
Do you guys want Black Widow recasted?
It seems kind of late to recast at this point. I'd rather see her written out than recast. There's plenty of other Avengers that could be used when actors have to go.
It's a little late for a recast, she's tied into a contract. I was a little wary of the casting initially, she she more than proved herself.
I know @vance_astro wants SJ to be given the boot. :p
I would kind of like her to be less sarcastic and witty and more of a badass Russian spy...but, whatever, Scarlet Widow is good enough.

I thought the 2nd Captain America film was going to change my mind but in fact I think I'm even less impressed with her as Black Widow now. She's not believable as a Russian spy who kicks ass. She's just Scarlett Johansson with red hair.
Why?
You want that ass too!

Yup, among other things. Not even gonna try and deny it.

Basically my feelings to her as well.
I didn't like her much in Iron Man 2, but since then I've really liked her in the role.
Plus, why would I not want to see Scarlett Johansson in black tights doing crazy acrobatics?
She is perfect for me.

That's what I was thinking at first but considering how she operates I would assume the comic version of Natasha never talks with a Russian accent.

LMAO!
And yeah, IIRC, she doesn't have the accent unless she wants to.
Want to hear a russian accent
Is it ever really specified in the comics that she speaks with a Russian accent? I mean yes she spent most her life as a soviet spy but I'd imagine it'd be pretty helpful in her line of work to be able to mask it on the spot depending on the situation.
@vance_astro: Yeah but i'd still be nice to hear it lol.Like when she had that pep conversation with Hawkeye in Avengers,no reason to hide anything there
She's fine I guess. They tend to have too many Michael-Bay esque ass and tit shots though. The whole opening scene in Avengers in her black dress for example *sigh*
Liked her more in Cap 2.
Don't really think the russian accent is too big of a deal personally.

I understand what you're saying. This is what I wanted when I first heard she was going to be Black Widow but it just seems unlikely that Tasha has a russian accent at this point and not because she's "hiding" anything but more so because her regular speaking voice has probably dropped the accent. If she NEEDED the accent for a disguise or a mission or something, that's probably when we'd hear it.

Thanks. I've actually read this. I don't remember that particular scene, but then again I don't remember much from any of the Black Widow books i've read.
I don't think Scarlett Johansson is really convincing as Black Widow but I don't really want her recasted. She works in this movie universe.
@daredevil21134: Yeah that's her speaking Russian still doesn't answer my question tho. I'm asking if it's ever specifically mentioned in the comics that she speaks English with an accent. Cos I have two Russian friends, both arrived in America around the same time, one has a VERY prominent accent and the other one you wouldn't guess she spent her childhood in Russia 'til she starts yelling at you in it. Her American accent seems to be default despite her upbringings. That and I have plenty of relatives who immigrated here well into their adulthood and also lost their accents as well. Now it's rare compared to my relatives that DO have accents but it's there regardless meaning it is very much possible Black Widow could be one of those people who lost her accent as a default one.

There were some earlier issues in Daredevil by Denny O'neil where she had trouble pronouncing some english words. It is possible but it would of been nice hearing her russian accent in the movies.Oh well
They would cast another female characters, specially someone that is able to compete with rest of boys. Since their contracts are almost over.
I dont see any problems with Scarlett's performance as BW.

I would assume that any spy on the level of the likes of Black Widow wouldn't speak with any kind of accent ever, because that's all it would take to blow their cover in some cases.
Besides, Natasha in comics has been globetrotting for over half a century and been a US resident for much of that time, so one would expect any accent to have evaporated over the years. In the movies... well she's much younger and considering her prominence within SHIELD, probably has lived most of her life outside of Russia.
@outside_85: It would be cool to hear the accent and to have a non American(not counting the Thor) hero would add some nice diversity to their team but at this point it doesn't matter anymore.I just thought i'd be cool

I just don't think she has the acting range to pull it off, nothing about her says "ass-kicking spy". I get "love interest" or "I accidentally got powers and decided to be a superhero".
No matter how much I try to fool my self into it, I can't take ScarJo seriously, she comes off as a tryhard. She was good-ish in Avengers but meh in everything else.
