@Gambit1024: I just find it funny by his sheer douche baggery he's done more harm than the top 10 Marvel villains combined
Avengers
Team » Avengers appears in 7704 issues.
The Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes and foremost super-team... "There came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born - to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand! Heed the call, then - for now, the Avengers Assemble!"

The Avengers are a broken concept thanks to Avengers Disassembled.I always thought they were supposed to be Marvel's most formidable Superhero group but in this day and age they are just that group you get into when Marvel is trying to sell your character and make more money.
sad but true
@Edgeworth_11: I answered that earlier, but I'm gonna tweak it.
One main Avengers team. No New. No Secret. Nothing like that.
- Captain America- Team Leader and Strategist
- Iron Man- Funding and Technology
- Thor- Muscle and Magic
- Ms. Marvel- Backup Leader and Extra Muscle
- Hawkeye- Weapons Specialist
- Black Panther- Stealth and Technology
- Vision- Team Link
Each member has some sort of specialty to bring to the table, and has proven themselves worthy again and again. If I were writing for Marvel, I'd have another team controlled by SHIELD that deals with Special Ops (just like the Secret Avengers, but they wouldn't be called that). DD, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist would be too busy being on the Marvel Knights, so they can't be Avengers. Spider-Man and the Thing need to have their full attention on the FF. Wolverine also needs to be where he's needed most with the X-Men. Pym, Tigra, and Jocasta are instructors at Avengers Academy, but they are on call if it's an emergency.

This is a really good team. After watching the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon, I really have a soft spot for the original avengers and your team fills all the functional purposes. The thing is DC provide logical reasons as to why they have more than one Justice League. Justice League International is a government/UN controlled team whereas Justice League Dark is a gathering of mystics. With Marvel, there are just too many Avenger teams. New Avengers is just Bendis' pet project and I despise the fact that characters like Spidey and Wolverine are on both the main Avenger teams. I also agree that there should be a black ops Avengers team that's logical but all the other characters are shoehorned in there so that they still appear in comics.
@Lvenger: Thanks. New Avengers have been a joke since the beginning of the 2nd volume, so I just pretend everything written in there is non-continuity. It helps me sleep at night. I think I'd call the black ops team The Invaders. Bucky, Black Widow, Ant-Man, War Machine, Falcon, Spider-Woman, and Mockingbird would be ideal for it. They'd most likely be lead by Nick Fury since he's not the head of SHIELD, atm.
Hawkeye and Black Panther shouldn't be on an active Avengers roster if there's only 7 members.@Edgeworth_11: I answered that earlier, but I'm gonna tweak it.

@Gambit1024: Ha agreed. I don't know why Marvel puts up with Bendis. Admittedly, he has written some very good stuff like Ultimate Spider-Man and Daredevil but he should stay on individual books and not be made to write big event books as he can't do that well. And I like your black ops team btw. The Invaders is a great name for it to pay homage to the World War II team. Personally I would have your team but with a few changes:
Instead of Ant Man and Mockingbird, I'd have Valkyrie for some muscle for the team and if he were still alive, Doctor Druid to account as an energy projectionist and mystic for the team. Adds a bit of power variety which is what I like in a team. But your line up is pretty cool though.
Too many street levelers.Too many characters that were reserve Avengers before disassembled that deserve the spot more than Hawkeye or BP.@Vance Astro: Why not?
@Lvenger: Agreed. Bendis sucks at team books. His run on DD and his early Ultimate Spider-Man were awesome, though. Druid would be a very interesting character on there. Good call. I like Valkyrie, but I'm still not sold on if she's right for a black ops team.
@Vance Astro: Which ones? I was thinking about Hercules, but I wasn't sure about it.
Does Herc have his strength back yet? If not than I don't think so. I would say maybe Spider-Man,Justice & Firestar,or She-Hulk.Another female is needed and someone with a more diverse powerset.@Vance Astro: Which ones? I was thinking about Hercules, but I wasn't sure about it.
The cover of Avengers #19 actually has a roster very similar to this.@Edgeworth_11: I answered that earlier, but I'm gonna tweak it.

@Vance Astro: I'd go for She-Hulk, but they need to have some sort of procedure to take her out in case she freaks out like in Disassembled. I don't care if it wasn't her fault, they need to be prepared for anything. Justice is in the same boat as Pym, Tigra, and Jocasta. What's Firestar been up to at the moment? I think that in order to be an Avenger, you can't be on another team at the same time. That's why Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Thing aren't on my roster.
@Lonestar88: No Thor makes me sad :(
Yeah, me too, guess something happens during fear itself. I honestly don't expect him to be gone for too long though.
@Lonestar88: I'm honestly surprised something even happens to him. He's only been back since Ragnarok a few years now, right?
Yep, that's why I don't expect him to be gone for long, I don't see them making him go through something so similar so soon.
@Lonestar88: True. Same with Bucky. I doubt that Brubaker would ever let someone else kill his character.
@Gambit1024: I've just had a look at her as the only time I've seen her before is in Secret Invasion. She seems like the perfect energy projectionist, not too powerful plus she'd be used to working for black op teams due to her team with SHIELD and Secret Warriors. Thanks for the find!
I have to agree, I as well in recent times have felt The Avengers have lost the respect they used to command because of their current roster. People like Jessica Jones aren't Avengers, she's a hero for sure but good enough to be an Avenger?, No way.
i like variety. plus what with all this honor stuff? you japanese or something? the avengers were brought together to do good and fight evil that no one hero can. that's it. even the founding members have big faults. tony= alcoholic, pym=wife beater, thor=narcisistic muscle freak, hulk=rageholic. no honor there bub.
