Marvel Comics' 2012 event. As a repercussion from the events that took place in The Children's Crusade, Fear Itself, Schism, and X-Sanction, the Avengers and X-Men go to war over the return of the Phoenix Force.
@The Dark Huntress: The teasers and this cover make almost no canonical sense whatsoever. But regardless, I thought it would be fun to post the match-ups implied by the cover and see what people's respective opinions on them were. :)
Looks interesting, kind of funny to see Wolverine fighting against the X-men and since when has Ms Marvel been on the Avengers? Or Luke Cage for that matter? I know they are in the New Avengers but I haven't really been following the recently so are they on both teams?

It doesn't really matter. If you're part of a current Avengers roster, you're an Avenger. Just like the X-Men divide into various titles and teams, they're still all X-Men.
Is that supposed to be Quentin's head in by Iceman's hand and Hawkeye's arrow tip? What is that thing pee-pole, tell me I must know the official facts? This image is sort of strange when you look at it up close.
The teasers were just that, teasers. They were to hype the event not be an accurate representation of its contents. Covers aren't always accurate either.
I suspect Wolverine might flip at some point, but I hope he doesn't. The whole mutant segregation thing is already off putting, having a mutant X-Man on the Avengers side would be better.
Nice. I hope Wolverine and Beast are actually on the Avengers' side, since they're Avengers and in Westchester. What interests me the most is that Iceman, Rogue and Gambit are opposing them and fighting alongside Cyclops. Have their allegiances to Logan been severed now that Hope has entered the mix? Kurt gave his life to protect the Mutant Messiah, and Rogue witnessed that so it's understandable that she'd fight to save her. I hope these ramifications are shown in the X-Titles.
Some of these match ups are far cooler than the promos. Gambit vs. Wolverine, Warpath vs. Thing, Hawkeye vs. Armour, Rogue vs. Spider-Man and Namor vs. Ms. Marvel are all brilliant. I hope they're what we see in the event itself.
The only ones I don’t agree with are Magneto vs. Luke Cage (keep him with Iron Man), Iron Fist vs. Hope and Psylocke vs. Black Widow. Widow doesn't stand a chance. Pit Psylocke against Iron Fist, I beg of you Marvel.

Except very few of those match ups coincide with the teasers. I have a feeling we're not gonna know the actual match ups until the event is published.
Agreed, I think the teasers are just to get fans freaking out so they'd buy the story...only to find out that probably half those fights aren't going to even happen.
And people, I highly doubt the fights in the cover and in the teasers are set in stone. They're only supposed to get you interested. Iron Man vs Magneto and The Thing Vs Namor were the only fights I remember somebody from Marvel confirming.
Still believe we have no actual clue how the fights will look like until we (and when I say we I mean other people since I am not buying this expensive toilet paper) open the books.
Thor could probably solo this, except for maybe Magneto. I'm a little surprised they put him in. That aside this would be better if it was a MAX title where the battles are to the death.
