Warming up or Sometimes it´s good to be Thor´s friend
The Story - While Thor battles Hella, Tony Stasrk is struggling for his life as he tries to convince Fafnir and all the ogres that is a bad idea sacrificing him, since he´s Thor´s pal - and judging by all the thunder and lightinings, the Odinson is back. Since Steve Rogers is a man of action, he does not wait for the dragon to come to his senses and rescues Tony - that was ambushed and waiting to become barbecue. Our heroes are strayed in one of the nine realms and they don´t have a clue who´s responsible or what´s Hella´s agenda adding some spice for next issue.
The Good - This issue things are starting to get better and I´m having high hopes again for this arc story (after a disastrous second issue). Dialogues did improve as well the narrative: a little less conversation and more action, Elvis used to say, and that´s exactly what Bendis and Davis have served for us: intelligent and funny remarks, cool moves by Rogers (by far the best character in this mini series), more characterization of our heroes (Tony as a smooth talker and the man with the plan and organization, and Rogers the eternal rescuer and savior of the day; only Thor is ofuscated, he really didn´t shine yet) and a sense of dynamics with good and solid art (feels that Davis didn´t rush in this issue, that he took more time in doing it and it really shows improvement). The funniest parts were Tony running naked for his life and Steve becoming a dragon slayer.
The Bad - Althought I´ve really enjoyed this issue, mostly because of the action and the funny stuff, I think Bendis exagerates regarding the funny remarks: I think he confuses Tony for Peter Parker, and that´s not ok. Also I´m not apreciating how Thor is being characterized in this story, ´cause he knows nothing and got his butt served by Hella, and he doesn´t have a clue of nothing and that´s his turf!!! I just don´t get it.
The Verdict - Issue # 1 was awesome, issue # 2 was terrible and this one was good and interesting, so I will change my last review and say Pick it up as I hope that issues # 4 and 5 are also good.
3.5 out 5
