For a time he had to take the life energy of a human every 24 hours to stay on Earth; he was cured of this thanks to Wonder Man and Scarlet Witch. He met his demise at the hands of Rogue, when he attacked the Avengers in an attempt to kill the Scarlet Witch.

As Nighthawk, he became mainstay of the Defenders, and has also acted alongside the Squadron Supreme, the Redeemers, the Thunderbolts and the Initiative.
