Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell – bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision.

In Sokovia, the Avengers raid a Hydra facility commanded by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, who has been experimenting on humans using the scepter previously wielded by Loki. The Avengers take apart the Hydra soldiers quite easily, but the central building is protected by an energy field which Iron Man disables with a missile. They encounter two of Strucker's test subjects; Pietro Maximoff, who has superhuman speed, and his sister Wanda, who can manipulate minds and project energy. Hawkeye encounters Pietro and while focusing on him gets shot badly in side. Iron Man also deploys the Iron Legion to the nearby city to protect the citizens.

Black Widow sings Hulk a “lullaby” to return him to Bruce Banner whilst Tony gets J.A.R.V.I.S to download all of Hydra’s data, finds a secret room where he retrieves Loki's scepter. Captain America confronts Strucker but is attacked by Wanda. She escapes then uses her powers upon Tony to give him a haunting vision of what might be.

The Avengers return stateside in their jet; Banner is concerned about his actions as the Hulk, Stark convinces Thor to allow him to “look over the sceptre” for a few days, and Dr Helen Cho from Seoul meets them at Avengers Tower to heal Hawkeye. Agent Maria Hill briefs Captain America on the twin’s history and powers.

J.A.R.V.I.S runs a scan on the sceptre and with Stark and Banner they discover an artificial intelligence within the scepter's gem. After some convincing, Banner reluctantly agrees to help implement the Ultron program and the pair use the sceptre and J.A.R.V.I.S to run tests. On Test-77 of the Ultron Program 8.7 integration is successful and Ultron gains sentience. J.A.R.V.I.S attempts to calm the newly woken artificial intelligence but after Ultron runs scans and probes decides that to save humanity he needs to eradicate it. Ultron kills J.A.R.V.I.S and builds himself a body.

The Avengers have a party in the tower, enjoying some down time. Falcon and War Machine join them along with some old WW2 soldiers. Towards the end of the party they take turns attempting to lift Thor’s hammer; first Hawkeye, then Stark, Stark again with an Iron Man glove, then Stark with his glove and Rhodes with his War Machine glove in tandem, Banner who pretends to Hulk out and finally Captain America who manages to move it minutely which concerns Thor briefly. Black Widow declines the offer to test the hammer and Thor states that the reason they can’t pick the hammer up is that they are all not worthy.

Ultron in his newly built body, staggers into the party to interrupt them. He says he is on mission, and commands the Iron Legion robots to attack. The Avengers fight back but Ultron escapes with the sceptre back to Strucker's Sokovia base to upgrade his rudimentary body and build an army of robot drones. Having killed Strucker, he recruits the Maximoff’s, who hold Stark responsible for their parents' deaths by his company's weapons, and go to the base of arms dealer Ulysses Klaue to obtain Wakandan vibranium. Ultron severs Klaue’s left arm when he is compared to Tony Stark in almost a childlike rage.

The Avengers confront Ultron, and as Ultron mocks he that he wants to take his time to explain his evil plan to them, attacks. The fight is intense but Wanda subdues them with haunting visions; Thor believes he’s in Asgard with Heimdall, Captain America is in a WW2 dance hall, Black Widow returns to her Red Room assassin training school, but when she tries it on Hawkeye he evades and stuns her with an arrow saying he’s already been mind controlled and didn’t much like it. Pietro saves her and as she recovers spots Banner. She triggers him into the Hulk and go on a rampage until Stark stops him with his anti-Hulk armor called Veronica, which was co-designed by Banner.

    It's Not the Comics, And That's O.K. 0

Avengers bracing for an attackIt is not without a little trepidation that I finally sat down to watch this film. I knew going in that there were some big departures from the comics this time out. To their credit, the gatekeepers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have managed to hew close to the source material for ten films, but this time out I had heard things like Ultron was not created by Hank Pym, and that Pym (the man behind a lot of the internal conflicts within the Avengers in the comics) ...

The movie all Marvel fans have been waiting for, the sequel to the Avengers, and the end of the second phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Avengers Age of Ultron! When Ultron rises to power, it is up to the Avengers to team up and save the world once more!If you remember one thing it should be this: Avengers Age of Ultron is a must-see! This sequel to the Avengers movie has built on what the Avengers had started, and everything that came after it. (I.e. The Fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Winter Sol...

    The Modern Prometheus 0

Directed by Joss Whedon Written by Joss Whedon Produced by Kevin Feige When The Avengers first came out in 2012, it was a novelty. The culmination of this grand experiment of treating blockbusters films like comic books or television, slowly seeding together a over arching plot culminating in The Avengers. Its sequel, Age of Ultron, isn’t as clear an endcap as its predecessor, though continues the terrestrial themes of the limits of heroism. With the announcement of Phase 3 we now know Ult...
