I was just curious as to why there are so many new members on the team. Some don't even seem like they belong. Power-man for instance. i thought he was training with Ironfist. Or Spider-girl, Batwing, and ButterBall. all three were in the initiative and the latter two Fought during the siege of Asgard. Not to mention Spider-girl going it alone and proving pretty successful. I think it's safe to say they've earned the right to go solo. And then there's Light Speed. To me she needs to get back with her old team or join the Future Foundation with the rest. And i'd personally wish they'de stop with the whole bisexual thing.

I have no problem with the large cast. It gives Christos Gage a chance to mix things up by interacting with more than just a handful of kids. As for 'the whole bisexual thing', it was just one issue.

- Looking at the sales on the title they needed to so something to shake things up or just accept inevitable cancellation sometime in the future

- I have never been a big fan of the new characters (overall) brought in as the original students, and the new ones coming in are a strange group considering they have better known and liked young characters just floating in limbo. I'm pretty sure not many were asking for the return of the kid with the pet Sentinel

- This book just feels like a dumping ground of characters do not want on any other title instead of a group together for a reason reason or purpose.

- The concept was long overdue considering the X-Men had the New Mutants 25 years ago, but the execution is just nothing to be excited about

Don't see why Turbo is there though, she's not exactly a kid.

I am sure some like Power-man and Lyra get some personal training but its a good idea to build up connections in your young hero community.

Its fine although I wish we got at 2-3 more teen books including a new new x-men book to replace Gen Hope.

As for Power-man, yeah Iron Fist can train him in all the fighting but once again its good to have your future heroes interacting with each other more and the Academy does that.

@Shadowsnake89: You have something against Bisexuals? And no, it's not going to stop. It's the 21st cetury, get with the times.

Anyway, you are forgetting that it's a school, it's like the mutant schools and such.

And the "Team" is Mettle,Striker,Finesse,Hazmat,Reptil,White Tiger, Lightspeed and X-23. The others are just students.

The current White Tiger(Ava Ayala) is a teenager. So is Turbo for that matter.

And yes, She's Angela's aunt, but she's younger than Angela, because Ava was born when her sister Awilda had already given birth to Angela and Angela's siblings.

She is a teen though, much like everyone else in AA.

@xerox_kitty: It's a part of Lightspeed's character, it isn't for just one issue and it seems she'll hit off with Karolina Dean in the Runaways arc.
