    Avengers Academy #35 Review

    Avengers Academy #35 Review

    Overview:

The team deals with Briggs as the crap continues to hit the fan.

    The Good:

This is a little spoilery but not that bad. The part with the team that escaped last issue is pretty good, Finesse is almost humorous in her single mindedness but several comments show that she still has feelings on some level or another. Striker is also surprisingly sneaky and manipulative here, if not a little cliché and it makes his character a bit cooler. The last page in particular brings the issue together and almost casts a new light on the series.

Ever since Fear Itself ended the series has been focusing a lot on the team’s personal problems and teenage drama. While this is interesting and all, when Hazmat gets pissed and decided to act, it shows that there is a lot of potential for serious action in the series instead of listening to the characters go on about how they have superpowers but their lives suck and adults constantly try to manipulate them. After this, looking back at the rest of the series, the story seems boring and this is all just based off on a few lines of dialogue and a single page at the end.

Christos Gage continues to deliver a pretty good story that leaves room for some interesting plot points concerning X-23, a known killer, and Hazmat, an angry kid with deadly powers.

Andrea Di Vito draws the issue and does a great job with it, the faces are able to convey a lot of emotion and it really helps the story flow.

    The Bad:

X-23’s adamantium poisoning is moving pretty fast. I remember a story with Wolverine when his healing factor is neutralized and he is poisoned too but he lasts for a while before getting as bad as Laura is and his entire skeleton is coated, it has been like ten minutes and she only has six claws and she is on death’s door.

    Verdict:

This series the past few issues has been up and down and this lands somewhere in the middle, but closer to the up-side. Seeing the characters get angry and want to fight is refreshing from standing around moaning about how the world is against them.

    3.5 (3.7) out of 5

Add traumas caused by Big Zero to adamantium poisoning.
