Backstory: I picked this up only because of the tie in with Thunderbolts. It is my first time reading the book. With all of my reviews I like to keep them short and not spoil anything for potential readers. The Good: This book is a ton of fun. You've got a virtual group of newcomers in the Academy trainees and an interesting supporting cast of experienced Avengers. The guest appearances this issue were great. We're three issues in, and Hazmat takes over narration duties for this issue. It's interesting to see and hear things from her perspective, as she's, arguably, the one that's been most affected by Osborn's tampering with her powers. She's stuck inside a hazmat suit and it stings like hell. That said, after some fun interaction with Iron Fist, and ESPECIALLY Valkyrie, it's time for a field trip to The Raft, for a scared straight day. Christos Gage and Mike McKone have been telling a slowly growing tale with a bunch of no name characters the last couple of issues, and with issue 3 that trend is kept the same. However, where those books felt slowly by comparison, this book felt like it was building toward something and you're on the edge of your seat knowing something is about to go down. Story: The issue starts off with Hazmat thinking back to a time before she was taken by Osborn. She was popular and rich. She had a great life and a boy friend she loved.
