    The Good

I'll be honest, when I first heard about "Avengers A.I.", I wasn't really sure what to think. In the midst of the AGE OF ULTRON story, I wasn't really sure if it would be something I wanted to get into. Knowing that Sam Humphries would be writing, of course I'd want to check it out. And it's a good thing because I liked this issue. I liked it a lot.

The fascinating thing about the end of AGE OF ULTRON is how it sort of subtly changed things without changing everything. With time travel and all, you never know what the effects would be. We know Hank Pym had to do a bit of tricky maneuvering and this gives a great continuation. I've said it before, I always liked Hank but it's been unfortunate that he got such a bum rap. He's definitely a character that's long been trying to redeem himself.

And let's look at the characters here. Besides Hank, we have Vision, Victor Mancha and also...a Doombot!

    The Bad

This issue was so much fun. No major complaints.

    The Verdict

Is this the evolution of the Avengers? Spiraling out of AGE OF ULTRON, we're seeing the after effects of Hank Pym's results to save...everything. With a bunch of A.I. type characters, one who has even had a slight upgrade as well as a freaking Doombot, this series is bound to be nutso. I don't know what Sam Humphries has planned but I cannot wait to find out. The art is pretty solid with a couple minor hiccups. This issue was just a blast to read and it I think this is going to become a new favorite series.

I have to say I was seriously underwhelmed by this book. I didn't have high hopes. I figured maybe it would answer some of the nagging questions left over from Age of Ultron. It didn't really, but I would have been OK with that if it was interesting on its own right. Unfortunately it didn't really do that either. Some of the dialog was kind of funny, but nothing to write home about. I like Victor Mancha, so I was glad to see him here, but I can't see continuing with this series.

By the way, where the heck did Vision come from? Didn't we last see him under the control of a future Ultron? Did I miss some important Age of Ultron tie in or something? Or shall we just assume that since they changed the time stream, Vision is just all hunky dory and normal?

I'm confused. I thought Age of Ultron was a "What If?" type of story. That it didn't happen in the "real" Marvel Universe. Was I mistaken? Can somebody clear this up for me? My head hurts.

It ultimately ended up being a glorified "What If?" story, yes, but there were a small handful of changes that came out of it. Ultron was destroyed for good (but he's been "destroyed for good" in the past, but supposedly it's meant to stick this time) and Hank Pym decided that he should totally build more AI crap because... reasons. Also all of spacetime has somehow broken (across all existence, including alternate universes) but not affected anything in any real way (aside from a mini-series where galactus will be attacking the Ultimate Universe), because science.

The things that happened in age of ultron concerning the characters involved basically didn't happen due to Ultron being killed before the Age of Ultron could happen

I enjoyed the issue and have always liked Hank Pym and Vision. This will get a least a couple of issues before i decide if it's going to stay on my pull list.

I'm liking this way more than AoU. The writings sharp, the dialogue between Pym and Chang was hilarious especially the " I've seen The Hulk in Banners bathrobe ,you can't scare me" line , made me lol. I also liked the Vision's nanites looking like Briaeros from "Appleseed". Great start.

@wavemotioncannon: So do you need to read AoU to understand what is going on here? The title appeals to me, but reading AoU does not.

Cool to see more Pym activity but Vision upgrading himself was BAD ASS. Not entirely enthralled by the premise of a rogue AI Pym had just used to destroy ANOTHER AI taking over but hopefully they'll introduce other baddies.

They are going a bit to far into the idea that AI's are another life form for my tastes. I'm not liking what they are doing with Hank.

Personally I thought it was an okay issue. It was a fun read, but hardly staggering. It sort of reminded me of Next Wave in tone and style (which is no bad thing). I'll give it a couple more issues to let it settle in...

i dont mind having a science focus team (more into magic myself) but this just didnt work. everyone was so out of character. it felt like they were trying to be funny instead of just being naturally funny. and this read like a kid book, not all ages, but like for a 10 year old. since when did super serious hank and victor start acting like second rate movie tony starks? me no likey. stand on board for the story but they got to get the characters right

Thank you, for the clarification. Am I glad I didn't bother with AU.I'm definitely skipping Avengers AI. Boring group of characters and no M11 from Agents of Atlas. This mania for dragging obscure Marvel background characters out of the archives is what has plagued Fearless Defenders, a much better book than this.I give this a very short run.

I liked it. I'm already a Hank and Vision fan, and the plot looks interesting enough. The doombots attitude reminded me a little of Machine Man, which is cool.

Something I found interesting was that Vision referred to Victor and the Doombot as Avengers. Does this mean this is an official Avengers team?
