Dinos, Martians and War
The Writing - I´m not sure if this first arc of this book is good or not, but I´m leaning to a position of not liking at all this all future in jeopardize thing: it´s too cliche, Bendis didn´t make nothing new (Avengers Forever for instance is wayyyyyyyyyyy better then this) and the dialogues aren´t excitting. The other three issues were palatable but this one just showed me that Bendis aren´t in control of this book: when you add Martians, Dinos (with Killraven!?!?! Come on!!!) and a war in the future, plus an older Iron Man that is in cahoots with Maestro and possibly with Kang - to destroy a bunch of kids??? - you have to stop, take a deep breath and admit to yourself that Bendis struck out in this book - now I´m only waiting for issues # 7 and following, hoping that the tide will turn.
The Art - Beggining with the cover, that was very beautifull, but the interior art wasn´t that great at all: too many splashes and only one that was really good (the first one with the battle of heroes and Kangs), JRJR didn´t put much effort in this issue: Thor´s, Logan´s and Barton´s faces were horrible,; the Tripods were a bad choice (even if it was a respectable reference to War of the Worlds, it just didn´t fit well). Overall this wasn´t a good issue.
The Verdict - Well, I´m buying this series out of respect for JRJR and because I´ve learned to like Avengers in this past two years, but this one didn´t make me eager to read issue # 5, so if you have to choose between other comics and this one, definitly Don´t Pick Up this issue.
