Avalanche
Avalanche is a comic book character that first appeared in X-Men #141A member of Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
Brotherhood of Evil Mutants
He next battled the Avengers with the Brotherhood.
Avalanche briefly left the Brotherhood in an attempt to blackmail the state of California into paying him a large amount of money to prevent him from using his power to trigger a major earthquake.
Avalanche fought the Hulk alongside Landslide on this occasion, and suffered broken arms when he attempted to use his powers against the Hulk’s body.
He returned to the Brotherhood, and with them encountered Rom and Hybrid.
The team later battled the X-Men as the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants one final time.
Freedom Force
Mystique, offered the Brotherhood's services to the United States government and became Freedom Force.
Their first mission was to capture the mutant Magneto.
They were then sent to capture the Avengers.
They battled X-Factor in attempt to arrest Rusty Collins.
Freedom Force then fought the X-Men and thee New Mutants in Dallas, and was present at the X-Men's apparent demise.
Freedom Force battled the New Mutants and captured Rusty Collins and Skids.
Freedom Force then had a battle with the Reavers on Muir Island where a number of members were killed or seriously injured.
Avalanche then teamed up with Blob and Pyro against the Avengers.
Avalanche joined Freedom Force to stop a prison breakout at the Vault.
Avalanche participated in Freedom Force's final mission in Kuwait. He abandoned Blob and Pyro during the battle with Desert Sword to save the seriously injured Crimson Commando.
Pyro's Death
After Freedom Force disbanded, Avalanche continued to work for the government as part of Project: Wideawake, but soon left when he found out that Pyro had the Legacy Virus.
Exodus' Brotherhood
Recently, Avalanche assaulted the center of New York City, but he was taken down by the then-powerless Wolfsbane and delivered to the authorities. Following that, Avalanche re-appeared in a Brotherhood attack on Philadelphia, where he manifests a newfound ability to affect organic matter by shocking Rogue into submission. He appears again in the attack on the X-Mansion, with the rest of Exodus' Brotherhood. He and the rest of the Brotherhood were sucked into the black hole in Shen Xorn's head.
After M-Day
Avalanche is one of the few mutants to keep his powers during the M-Day and currently resides in San Francisco.
UtopiaLater, during the San Francisco riots, Gambit tries to control Avalanche and Erg, who are rioting with other pro-mutant people. Ares arrives and attacks Avalanche. Gambit then takes on the God of War. Later Avalanche, Hellion, Sunspot, Meld, Adam X, Match and Lorelei decide to go out during the newly imposed curfew in order to get arrested and let everyone know what will happen to them if they don't demand their rights. The Dark X-Men arrive at the scene to imprison all of them.
Powers
Avalanche has the mutant ability to generate incredibly powerful vibration waves from his hands. He can use these waves to cause matter to shatter or crumble. When these waves are directed at a building or directly into the ground, they can create effects remeniscent of earthquakes or avalanches. Avalanche does not actually need to be touching an object in order to affect it with his vibrations. He can be some distance away from an object and still be able to affect it. It should be noted that Avalanche's powers usually have little or no effect on organic matter.

Here Avalanche is a ninja under the control of The Hellfire Club. Part of The Shadow Clan, he works with both Pyro and Iceman.

X-Men The Animated Series
Here is a henchmen that Mystique often utilizes for her own purposes. Avalanche is usually always accompanied by both Pyro and Blob. They have caused trouble in some political events as they show supremity to the entire human race. During an episode creating a flashback to Rogue's past, he was shown eith other Brotherhood members who works with Rogue during her Brotherhood days.
X-Men Evolution
Here, his name is Lance Alvers , and he is a member of the Brotherhood. He found a good friend within Kitty Pryde which later turned to love. In an episode, Avalanche uninvitedly went to the Institute to state his desire to become an X-Man (possibly for being closer to Kitty Pryde who was his love interest.).But because of some changes that he cannot adopt to, he quit and returned toi his team. During the final battle with Apocalypse, together with the Brotherhood of Mutants, they have followed Wanda in fighting Magneto who was Apocalypse's horseman at that time. After the circumstances under Apocalypse's attempt on destroying the humanity, Avalanche and Kitty became closer. During Professor X's vision, he became a member of SHIELD's Freedom Force together with is Brotherhood friends.
Wolverine And The X-Men
A member of the Brotherhood Of Terrorist Mutants along with Quicksilver ( the leader ), Blob, Domino, Toad and Rogue for a time. He is one of the members of the brotherhood who saved Toad from the police.
