harleyquinn12's Atom and Hawkman #46 - Bye Bye Birdie! review

Yay for Indigo Lantern Atom!!!

Truthfully, I was looking forward to his issue more than any of the other revived titles. This doesn't disappont! For a quick rundown, we have an introduction to the Atom and the possesion of his new Indigo ring, ending with him in an Indigo Lantern outfit. He fights Black Lanterns Hawkman and Hawkgirl and basically chops off Hawkgirl's head off just like Mera did to Dolphin in Bn #2. Indigo-1 shows up and tells Ray that Indigo Tribe members can project the other light spectrum color things, which leads to Ray, who shortly after Indigo-1 leavs is fighting Black Lanterns Khufu and Chay-Ara projecting orange constructs of the Hawks to fight the Black Lanterns. He is then haunted by Jean Loring, who then takes them to somewhere more personal. Now don't get me wrong, I love Jean, but this was too overwhelming in a sense. Jean teleports them to Sue Dibny's kitchen, who as they arrive is preparing a birthday cake for the Elongated Man, as the phone rings. Sound Familiar? Identity Crisis, of course. Why must we see Sue die again, as if they haven't mentioned what happened to her before? Getting back to the story, hence Identity Crisis, is killed(again) and her body is burned by, Jean Loring. Ray attacks her, as she brings out Black Lantern versions of the forest creatures from Sword of The Atom(i think). He destroys them, and severs the connection to Jean's ring by shooting her with a combination aof green and indigo light. We then see Indigo Tribe members appear  on Oa, Korugar, Zamaron, Ysmault, and Odym and they rescue the wounded members of eac of the corps. Then Ray enlists the help of Indigo-1 to bring Hawkman and Hawkgirl back to life.

Johns's writing was fantastic as always! I think he could hold an ongoing Atom series if Dc decided to do it!
Sook's art leavs not much to be desired He captaures Ray's facial expressions amazingly!

The Atom's in the Spotlight 0

I'm going to preface this by saying I didn't enter Blackest Night knowing much about Ray Palmer. Through Blackest Night, I have developed a lot of interest in the Atom. I'm not alone in the growing fandom of Atom, Mera, Flash, etc. In that sense, you can call Blackest Night a success since it has highlighted non-Trinity characters and grown an interest in them to the point where you buy issues with those characters.     I enjoyed AAH46 far more than I expected. I felt as if I, as a new Atom...
