Asuma is usually a laid back, calm, person. He is the Leader of Team 10, Ino Yamanaka, Shikamru Nara, and Choji Akmichi. Each one has a different personality. One is stuck up, the other is lazy, and the last is a food lover. Asume always tries to make his team do tasks but sometimes uses bribes to get them to do these things. He espcially gets Choji to work by giving him food.

Asuma's weapons are these two trench knives. He uses these weapons in all of his battles. When used, he uses his chakra to extend the length of the knives to attack more deadly. He also uses his element of wind to allow him to cut through rock with these knives. He can also defeat nine ninja by himself using these knives and his taijutsu. Asuma can even use a fire type jutsu. This is a giant puff of smoke or ash. This is an ash that can give third degree burns. Since its an ash, it can stay in the air and stay used.

Asuma is always calm. He only gets into battle when necessary. He is seen smoking in most of his scenes. He only stops when something important is happening. This was when his father died, and other rare occasions. He spends a lot of time with his team and is usually with Shikamaru since they spent a long time together. He is playing Shogi or Go but never is able to beat him. Asuma is also with a very, very close relationship with Kurenai Yuhi, leader of Team 8. The two appear together in most of their scenes. One was when Asuma buys flowers from Ino's family shop for somebody. Another was when he was with Kurenai to go spend time at a dumpling shop together. Also, when Asuma dies, Kurenai goes to her knees and cries and lays flowers at his grave. And, more importantly, during the timeskip, Kurenai tells Shikamru that she is pregnant with Asuma's child and Shikamaru promises to protect her and her baby.

Asuma later fights a member of the Akatsuki, Hidan. Hidan uses his ability to control Asuma and give him pain. So Hidan continued this technique but Shikamaru helps Asuma escape but when he attacks Hidan, it is done no good. Hidan later puts back his technique and then, stabs Asuma in a fatal way. Ino and Choji come but it is too late. The Akatsuki members leave and Asuma knows he can't make it and tells great advice to his team. He takes one more cigarette before he dies. Shikamaru later gets revenge for Asuma and kills Hidan. Asuma's spirit congratulates Shikamaru for beating the unbeatable and in a puff of smoke, Asuma's spirit disappears.
