Asgardian Gods
Team » Asgardian Gods appears in 1801 issues.
The deities of Norse mythology.
Are they more powerful than the other Patheons?
Amatsu-Mikaboshi decided to attack the other Patheons because the Asgardians were gone. When forming the God Squad, the other Patheon highfathers desired greatly the presence of the Asgardians. Why is so much testament to their power? Odin, Thor, Hela and Loki seem to be the only ones with power outside of just being strong and long lived. All Olympians very in power besides that of the basic strength and immortality. Even the god-like Eternals are mor epowerful the the Asgardians overall.
I think the Asgardians gave the other Patheons a sence of power . If I remeber correctly a normal Asgardian is more powerfull than a normal Olympian.
" I think the Asgardians gave the other Patheons a sence of power . If I remeber correctly a normal Asgardian is more powerfull than a normal Olympian. "The Asgardians may outnumber the Olympians
But they don't have the raw power.
The Olympians are all gods with designated powers like sun or water
Most Asgardians strength is about 20-25 tons
"It' possibly related to Odin being the most powerful of all the skyfathers, Given the poeer gap between the skyfather and all the other Gods, this may the only thing that matters. "
Most powerful?
Zeus power is said to rival Odins.
And this has been stated officailly by Marvel.
Fact is, no other pantheon has the shear combat experience from top to bottom like the Asgardians. Even an earth goddess like Sif is a fierce shield maiden.
Most of the others outside of demigods like Hercules or war gods like Ares are just self-righteous pricks without fighting prowess or experience (notable exception Athena). And the fact is, with "designated" powers, most are either relegated to back-up status in fight or are completely useless.
Any Asgardian could be called on to go into battle. That makes them very potent when a crisis of that level occurs, which would explain the lamentations of the other gods at their disappearance.
Depends, this is a pretty broad statement. There is no simple answer unless you want to be one. Asgardians were the first to really be fleshed out, and a lot were in positions of being a protagonist, and protagonist's tend to be more powerful than non protagonists generally. When other Pantheons get fleshed out and put into protagonist roles, invariably more power or favorable showings, suggesting power will follow them. Though, sentimentalism will play a role here too, in the same way Supes is usually allowed to stay as the Most Powerful Superhero, in the way that "matters" something could be said for Odin and even Thor whose age and importance to Marvel, give them certain advantages because of the real life aspect of story telling. Though with Odin and Thor and by extensions, Asgardians, writer recognition of this isn't universal. Definitely not in the same way as it is with Superman and his spot. Some writers even seem to actively dislike the position given to Asgards by Marvel's past, and so seek to "undermine" them.
My honest assessment is that for all intents and purposes, they are about as powerful as most other large Pantheons. Greeks, and Daevas, but depending on the writer, this could appear to be not the case, and especially if you look at what has been printed on panel, looking for 'proof' or evidence, because thats a messy bag of inconsistency. Will be interesting what happens, because in a future arc of Thor, Asgardians will be staring down with Galactus.
