Zoe Saldana in Talks to Play Gamora in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Eh, in talks just means that...in talks. Intriguing though, but for my taste Zoe is far too thin for the role. Far too thin. I do admit I have bias though so, there you go.

i'm glad, she's a good fit. Plus she's easy on the eyes... Even if she will be green.

People keep saying she's too skinny, but stars gain and lose weight all the time to fit a role. Maybe her body doesn't match the drawings (which are always grossly exaggerated, btw), but that doesn't mean she won't put on the weight or muscle to get closer to the role. Side note: All this skinny/anorexic talk is just as mean as calling someone fat.

She could do it, but she seriously needs to gain some weight. At least back to her drumline level.

Why did you picture her as Asian? Was there a particular artist that drew her that way? When I think "Marvel Comics green Asian space chick" I think Mantis, not Gamora.

Not what I expected but I'd watch her in anything. Tremendously talented actress, versatile in the characters she can portray, and she has serious sci-fi cred. It's a good fit.

I like Saldana and I know she has the acting chops to pull off a female action role but to be honest she was not the first one to come to mind for the role of Gamora. I guess I pictured Gamora as a bit taller and more muscular but I am willing to be surprised.

I'm not saying I disagree with you on the Gamora as an Asian space chick thing but what Asian actress comes to your mind and makes you think "athletic and curvy" I mean really?

Why do people keep trying to put Christina Hendricks in action roles? Don't get me wrong, she is absolutely gorgeous, but she's not athletic, she can't even fake athletic with her body. When there were still rumors of a Red Sonja movie, people were trying to put her in that role as well. No. No no no no no. She's awesome, but she is completely, absolutely, and unquestionably wrong for playing athletic characters.

Can't wait to see Dave Bautista dress up as Drax. And I am definitely looking forward to see this movie! Zoe is a great actress.

@ellie_knightfall: What confuses me is that in Nova she has the old outfit. I guess I'm still unclear as to timing, where that fits in compared to GotG proper. Anyhow, while I complained a lot about Starfire's outfit and loved her spacesuit look, I actually feel the opposite about Gamora. Her former outfit was extremely signature (skulls and all), and the new one's pretty forgettable.

@akbogert: Yeah, I noticed from the covers and the default GotG image that she's much more lithe now (jury's still out on how I feel about the new costume design). Zoe's one of my favorite actresses and she without a doubt has the chops and the physicality to handle this role.

Gina Carrano would be awesome as Gamora (and has actual real life fighting skill). She's my current fan cast for WW.

I saw somebody complaining on BC about how Zoe was too skinny to play Gamora...but the actress they would have chosen was Olivia Wilde and I was pretty confused, considering they're both quite slender.

@akbogert: That would be disappointing too. Gamora was someone I enjoyed exactly the way she was. Who knows, I'll let them tell the story, and I will pay to see if it was any good.

@queenfrost_: @lykida: @ellie_knightfall: @hyenascar: Based on the direction they've been taking Gamora in Nova/GotG, she looks a little lighter (mass-wise) than older iterations. I've not seen Saldana's more action-y movies (Colombiana, The Losers) but I think as the comics and film move to accommodate one another, it will at least be believable as far as Marvel NOW is concerned. And of course personality-wise I think she's a shoe-in.

Zoe is gorgeous, but Gamora is a wrecking machine. She is huge and powerful.We will see how this pans out.

I really like Saldana, it's just...she's already been in two sci-fi franchises. I would like it for someone else to have a chance to play a badass space lady. Maybe Christina Hendricks (she was pretty good in Firefly)? What about Gemma Arterton?

She can act but she'd reaalllyyy have to put on some muscle if she wanted to do this. Her body type is an ectomorph from what I can tell and Gamora is like...super-muscle.

I would rather Rosario Dawson tho.

Wasn't my first choice, but if she gets the part I'm sure she will do just fine. Funny she had a green lady as a roommate in Star Trek, now she might be play one herself......

Good actress and a good pick. She can play a hardcore character and can also do her own stunts and be very physical. Gamora? Perfect casting!
