Get ready for another all-new episode of Young Justice airing tonight at 7:00 pm on Cartoon Network. I hate reading subtitles and trying to watch tv at the same time. I don't speak Long John Silver's, just speak English. Now I'm hungry.

I have all the episodes recorded, but haven't watched them.  What is the show like?  Very dark and serious?  A little fun, like the Avengers, or more like Timm's cartoons?  I am just curious because in the commercials they all seem so serious and they say things like "This isn't a social club!"  And in the first episode they seemed like they were on a job more than friends.

Aqualad, screwing up? Never....he's such an awesome character.

The team (minus Wally really) tries to take a serious approach. They feel like they're being babysat by the Justice League, and are eager to prove themselves as actual heroes. There's fun and humor, but overall it has a more serious tone when it comes to their missions and interactions with one another.

@Skies327: Thanks.  So its more like JLU then?  Or is it more serious?

I like Aquaman even more in this series :)

I honestly didn't watch too many episodes of JLU, but I'd put it up there yeah. I mean they're still all kids, but it's nowhere near Teen Titans in terms of comedy/sillyness.

i love the show, the only criticism i have (besides Dick being the same age as superboy) is that Aqualad is blonde, i prefer his long black hair in the comics

This episode was probably the best so far!

Bruce and Dick, M'gann and Conner, Barry and Wally...and it's official, Artemis' identity is revealed.    Mera, Aquagirl, Black Manta...this whole episode was full of win.

This was a totally awesome episode. I love the whole Atlantean Sorcery thing.  So cool...  I hope this show, is able to demonstrate how wonderful DC Universe can be if done right.

I like this Aqualad kid! My only complaint: he doesn't kick enough butt!!!

This episode confirms Artemis is indeed Artemis Crock

This was a awesome episode! It was good to see Auqalad and see the team taking time off.

haven't seen the episode yet but judging from all your comments, i am very excited.

This new Aqualad that they have here is very good, and in the comics, they're kind of going in that direction as well, with Aqualad being Black Manta's son and having water sorcery powers.

Young Justice is definitely one of my new favorite shows on t.v. But I wish we'd see more sides to Superboy, they keep treating him as a kid Hulk. Jump. Smash. Shout.

I really wish we could get some weekly reviews of this series

This was my favorite episode by far! I loved how although it was Aqualad focused it still found time to see what the other members of the team were upto with thier families. It mananged to fit so much into one episode! Plus Black Manta looked awesome. I was hoping the whole father/son thing would happen but you never know! It may happen in a later episode.

This was an awesome episode of young justice, I Aqualad was kicking ass. I felt bad for him getting rejected, sux to be him.

I agree with some of the above, Comic Vine should be doing weekly reviews of Young Justice
 sooooooo....here's mine!

March 4, 2011 Young Justice "Downtime"

We get a glimpse into a day in the life of our young heroes that is full of surprises, action, and great character moments.

The Good: This episode was amazing and added characterization to the YJ members by leaps and bounds.  Aqualad (Kaldur'ahm) is the primary focus of  "Downtime" but his story is interspersed with vignettes spotlighting Miss Martian, Superboy, Robin, Kid Flash, and Artemis (whose identity & heritage is subtly revealed to those familiar with DCU history) as they have a day off from super-heroing.  While Aqualad visits his home in Atlantis viewers may think that their TV has suddenly turned into an LED lit aquarium of undersea colors, architecture, and beauty. No animated detail is overlooked and THIS is Atlantis like we have never seen in comic books! Add at least a dozen fan-favorite Aquaman family characters, a battle which looks like Star Wars underwater, and enough sub-plots to justify a year's worth of stories and you have a nearly perfect episode.  Oh, and the scene with MM and Superboy was simply "priceless" as they say over at Mastercard.

The bad: Hard to say, but YJ episodes run about 20 minutes and are heavy on commercials and just too short for my taste. Want more!  Also, even though Young Justice is set on the youthful Earth-16, it is still heavy on DCU history and I fear many  kids watching are missing out on some of the real gems in each episode (i.e. in "Downtime" I wonder if new fans realized who the unnamed giant purple starfish was?)  My suggestion would be to do "episode case notes" on the Young Justice Cartoon Network website so that newbies can identify characters and explore the richness of the DCU history that is crammed into each episode.

The verdict: 5 ***** out of 5 stars.

All in all,  it was a pretty fun episode of the show! Probably the most original one so far. :D
