'Young Justice' and 'Green Lantern' Cancelled by Cartoon Network?

Say it ain't so!

Many of us saw this coming, but that doesn't make this any less heartbreaking! Cartoon Network's latest press release lists new and returning shows and unfortunately fan favorites Young Justice and Green Lantern aren't on it! First the unexplained delay, now this? I'll let that sink in and give you a moment or two to vent.

No Caption Provided

Despite being widely loved by comic fans, the two animated shows didn't appear on the list. Instead, Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman made the cut.

This is very disappointing news, especially after Green Lantern shocked us with such a powerful episode ("Loss"). Viners, this is where I usually ask you to sound off, but I think a moment of silence is more appropriate.

Wow. Why dose this not suprise me? Cartoon network has no secenc of timing. Do you remenber the teen titans? Cartoon network had them cut off there series at the worst time. There final episode was supose to set up the next season, but they were canned. And other then this, what dose cn have? (green lantern was good too)

Dumb....YJ is a good show, The Hub should get it....

CN, Nicko etc are too picky and often cancel the wrong shows these days...

im so ticked bout this. as far as im concerned, CN died along time ago.

im upset with CN canceling GL & YJ bout as much as i was when on 8/31/12 when NCSoft announced the closing of COH.

YJ & GL i really looked forward to every sat along with PR on Nick. CN needs to be thrown out the nearest airlock. lol

For those people that say it's being cancelled because it's too smart for the average cartoon viewer. That's because the average cartoon viewer is my 6 year old little sister.

I'm so furiated about this. Why would they cancel a quality DC cartoon that was getting fine reviews? You probably remember that big 6 month break they had and I think I know why. The big guys who own everything came to the makers of YJ and told them that they're canceling the show. Te guys behind YJ probably had change the episodes so the series could end in time.

Ah come on Young Justice was getting good! I haven't watched GL, but I was planning to! CN is messing up the only good shows they had left. But Cartoon Network told us they were messing up when they get rid of toonami in 2008 Sure they brought it back but it's not for the youth, I'm not mad, but all this is nerve wreaking man.

No wonder my DVR refuses to record any new episodes, there aren't any! LOL! Seriously though, there were at least two episodes of each that were new and on recently that I had to tell it to manually record for whatever reason, but I guess I'll just have to be somewhat vigilant about checking for few and far between new episodes now. Shame b/c these are two of my most favorite shows right now. YJ, b/c it's the only thing out there that I can get the DCU that I love, the one before the DCnU/New 52 crapfest that's in the comics now. I know that even YJ is supposed to be yet another "alternate earth" but even w/ that it's the closest thing to how things were before w/ all the characters in one cohesive universe rather than all this "some characters are only on this Earth, and others are now only on this other one crap" they brought back into the comics. However, YJ is far enough into the plot that they could just wrap it up and end it with no problem. GL, on the other hand hasn't even barely scratched the surface in the storyline, and they still have some of the other lantern corps to introduce yet. It's far too soon to get rid of it now.

I had to make an account, just to say how stupid this is!! the ratio of comic book shows that get cancelled to those that officially conclude is ridiculous. i don't want to have to assume that every one of these shows that we watch aren't actually going to end. i hope YJ gets picked back up again, not by cartoon network, but by somebody

I'm Pretty sure that was because marvel could not get any funding for a second season.

What about when Marvel cancelled Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes? Was that for funding issues? Marvel always cancels it's strongest shows. LOL

And Somewhere Ben 10 is reaching season 15 or something At the end of the day cartoons like Young Justice, Green Lantern, Thundercats, He-Man, Gundam Wing and etc are to "smart" for cartoon viewers these days. There is to much plot for the average cartoon watcher of this era and these shows are for the ages 16 and up and lets face it there is not of us out here for these shows to be on the air, I mean seriously Toonami comes on at like 11pm. I almost wish the ScyFy channel had a cartoon block because they would definitely know what to do with these cartoons.

Part of the reason they failed is because a lot of the hardcore fans on this site simply watched the episodes on youtube instead of watching them on cartoon network, on demand, or on iTunes.

Sad because both shows were top notch.

Is that what really led to them being cancelled?

No. Whoever said that is BS ing. It had great ratings.

Why is it assumed this means they are canceled? It can just mean they are going to do 3-6 months of GL and YJ, then 3-6 months of TT and B-BB. I've always thought this would be the better method that way the DC Nation block can run all year long without too many repeats.

Green Lantern series creator already confirmed it was cancelled.

Well guess that's a nail in the coffin of my theory.

What. The. HELLLLLLLLLLLL!?!?!?!?!?

YJ was the "second coming" of the old Justice League cartoon. Maybe this wouldn't have happened if they hadn't have put them on 2 completely pointless hiatuses & had the casual fan (who I'd just imagine makes up the majority of ratings for every show) forget about them. This season better end in an awesome way >_>

Both of the canceled shows were weak in terms of story-telling and characters. Teen Titans Go is cutesy, but sorta annoying. I'm holding high hopes for Beware the Batman, though.

I have just read on some other sites that the animation reps at Warner Brothers have confirmed the cancellations to Newsrama. It has been disappointing to see good shows get cancelled on Cartoon Network. These two now join Sym-Bionic Titan and Thundercats on the list of shows that were cancelled by CN that were very popular. Just disappointing.

But it's not officially officially cancelled right??

It might as well be. The exact same treatment was given to the 2011 Thundercats series.

Everything seems fine, then they don't show up on the roster for the next season's line up, CN ignores all inquiries regarding the shows status, then months later fans get word from the people who actually made the show that it's over.

So, yeah, they are pretty much gone. Cartoon Network specializes in making poor decisions these days, so I doubt these shows are coming back.

I didn't watch DL regularly, but everything I saw I liked. I didn't care for Young Justice in the least (except for casting Brent Spiner as the Joker, that was pretty awesome) but at the same time, I think the show deserved better handling than this.

@Ahmed Sherif: Well Avengers is at least getting rebooted. I loved EMH, but I guess I can understand slightly where they're coming from rebooting it with the movie team. I even heard a rumor that the events of EMH might still be canon for the series, and that something will have changed to explain updated roster.

Good god no! I'm going to keep hoping this is not true.

Young Justice is one of the best animated shows on television at the moment (being amongst other top notch animated shows like adventure time and Transformers prime [another show thats been canceled after its next and final season]). I don't know why some of the best animated shows only last 3 or 4 seasons, especially in an instance like YJ where it seems like theres SO much story left to tell.

Even GL, which had a pretty slow build but finally is reaching its pace, just hasn't had the time to shine like I know it can and will. This is truly sad news, my saturday morning breakfast/coffee/cartoons tradition is seemingly coming to an unfortunate end :(

So tired of Batman being shoved in my face. DC's should release a new mission statement "We're going to shove Batman in your face until you fucking hate him. Oh and FUCK all our other character"
