Young Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle Officially Cast in 'Gotham'

Find out who will pay the roles and what their story is at this point.

We know there's a TV show Gotham coming focusing on the origin story of Commissioner James Gordon on FOX/WBTV. It's been emphasized that this is not a "Batman" show. But of course, being set in Gotham City and the ties to different Batman characters, it's almost a given that we could expect to see several familiar characters pop up.

While the casting has been announced little by little, Warner Bros has officially announced the "final two series regular roles" of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. We all know they will both grow up to become Batman and Catwoman but they are far from that at this point. It is interesting to note they will be "series regulars." What will their relationship with each other be, if any? We'll have to wait and see.

So who will play young Bruce Wayne?

David Mazouz (Touch) has been cast as the preteen Bruce Wayne, sentenced to a solitary life after the tragic murder of his wealthy parents. Serious and soulful, young Bruce relies on the guidance and protection of Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon.

What about Selina Kyle?

Acting newcomer Camren Bicondova has been cast as Selina Kyle, a teenage orphan who is suspicious and wholly unpredictable. A street thief and skilled pickpocket, she’s dangerous when cornered.

They're young. That's good since this show isn't about them. It will be interesting to see how they weave their way through Gordon's story and what they'll be up to.

Here's the previously released information:

  • Based upon characters published by DC Comics, GOTHAM is a drama exploring the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham famous.
  • Bruno Heller (The Mentalist, Rome) wrote the pilot script and will serve as executive producer. Danny Cannon (the CSI series, Nikita) will direct and executive produce the pilot.
  • Series regulars are Ben McKenzie (Detective James Gordon), Donal Logue (Detective Harvey Bullock), Zabryna Guevara (Captain Essen), Erin Richards (Barbara Kean), Sean Pertwee (Alfred Pennyworth), Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin), David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne), Camren Bicondova (Selina Kyle) and Jada Pinkett Smith (Fish Mooney).

I was just about to make a thread for this :/

I'm not sold on Bruce. The kid was annoying in Touch. However, young Selina looks fine

Nice.

So Selina's a few years older. I guess that makes it easier if they want to go into the street-smart rough-living story.

.......I did not like that kid in Touch. He was thoroughly unlikable.

So with Gotham and Flash how many live action shows has DC planned?

Edited by PunyParker

But you have to admit,a crap-load of Batman news today.

That kid doesn't look anything like Bruce.

It'll probably be a cool show, but I've never been on board with a "Gordon is in Gotham when Bruce was little (& interacted with him....especially being there when his parents died)" origin. I prefer Batman: Year One (this was canon until mid n52, right?) where Gordon came to Gotham when Bruce was returning from his training - so they're much closer in age. The 'new' story is so overdone ("you were that little kid many years ago!").

Excluding those 2 and Arrow - Constantine, Hourman, iZombie, DMZ, and Preacher.

Gah it's like she's looking in to my soul

Her eyes look just like Michelle Pfeiffer's. Appropriate if you ask me :)

That's fine i guess, don't really know what to say about this casting, all i can do is just hope the show is good

Ok casting of a super young Bruce Wayne is a good sign that this will likely be the James Gordon show the inital press release said. So he won't be a brooding teenager. It also percludes him from being all tag along with Gordon.

Gotham still may be pretty good. Cmon Donal Logue is Harvey Bullock how could it not be great?

DMZ? That's new to me lol They seem to be really pushing the Vertigo/DC series, with some mainstream(ie Smallville, now Arrow, Flash soon and Constantine)

Selina older than Bruce? Interesting.

The Catwoman casting is great but I don't know about David Masouz. Unlike a couple of commentators above I liked him in Touch, he was kind of meant to be unlikable since he couldn't convey what he was feeling. But he doesn't look anything like past versions of young Bruce Wayne I've seen. Not to be crude but he kind of looks like he will grow up to look more like Arnold Horshack and less the Brad Pitt play boy type. They might have to recast if this show goes more than a few years.

I'm not a big fan of the Bruce and Selina knowing each other as kids idea, if that's what they're going for. Got no problem with the actors, even if they could have found someone that resembles typical young Bruce a bit more.

It's not like DC hated Vertigo, it's just the books didn't sell that well.

@rustyroy: I thought the same thing initially but realized it was because of the hair. His cold blue eyes and intense smirk/scowl seem pretty spot on. He just needs a haircut. Badly. IGN had a close up headshot of that picture that showed off what I'm seeing a little better.

Cool.

I don't like the Bruce casting but I do like the Selina one. I hope they don't know each other as kids.

can't wait to see this and the flash!

Selenas older then bruse? I like that alot more then you'd think

Edited by TehStranger

The choice for Selina is really good, the choice for Bruce however looks pretty terrible.

Awwww, aren't they just adorable?

Okay, I'm curious, is Riddler or Joker set to appear? Or Mr. Freeze?

Bruce looks alright, once they fix his hair. I don't know about selina. Her eyes are too far apart, and I alway s pictured her with naturally darker/ more tanned skin.

I found the worst picture, and I still think it's the hair. Getting rid of those locks will make him look so much less...Jewish. Not that that's bad, but it's not Bruce Wayne (and before anyone jumps on me for stereotyping, both this kids parents are ethnically Jewish).

@jaken7:

I guess if Heimdall can be black, Little Bruce can be a Jew.

Dad's a doctor, family is super rich, Bruce was isolated as a kid...it fits.

"Alfred! Can you adjust the air conditioning unit in the Batcave? The air's not circulating properly and my sinuses are acting up. It's bad enough this suit exacerbates my eczema. "

"Damian, you're going to be a good little bubbeleh and wear your yamaka. Don't think you're getting out of a bar mitzhvah little boychick!"

"Harvey, can you be more careful with your money? Always flippin' that coin without a care in the world! What if you drop it!?"
