" Wait, how can the X-Men be fighting the Soviets in plain sight.....and yet in X2, the U.S. Government had no idea the X-Men even existed until Striker pointed it out to them years later? O_o "
Because f--k logic. "
I hate that kind of logic.... -__-

" @War Killer: Easy answer to that. the magic bullet that killed kennedy also hit every other person in the administration that did know about the x-men. except william striker. cause you know fox really believes in the ideals of continuity. "
O_O Oh my gosh!!!! That would so work!!!! xD
Honestly the only thing I hate about this movie is Emma xD But only to things, 1.) Because I hate her being in this movie as an older woman because that would make her old in the present day movies -__- 2.) Because she looks like she's just wearing a white bra :/
Everything else I'm cool with, don't care for most of the X-Men in the film anyways (save for Beast, Emma, Mystique, and Magneto), but the film does look pretty awesome, I'm still not sure about the whole time travel thing that we heard about a while back, but eh, we'll just have to wait and see.
I thought it was going to be a re-imagining of the first set of X-Men, but apparently not. I thought that it was strange seeing Havok and Emma Frost on the credits: the correlation between them and Scott is going to create a paradox. Did they honestly have to transform Hank McCoy so soon? I thought his acrobatic abilities and intelligence were enough to define his character.
It's good to know that before Magneto ... Havok was an x-man. this trailer has the usual flash, but I see a lack of substance and am ready to be disappointed.
Well now that I've gotten a small sample I'm still not impressed... Granted some of the effects look pretty sweet I can't wrap my head around this random line up. This is going to need to be looked at as a total reboot and complete solo film for it to be worth a damn. The problem for me is now I have to discard the three previous movies along with the Wolverine movie. Granted X-Men United and Origins weren't all that up to par but I'd rather have had an X-4 or just a normal prequel with Cyclops, Beast, Jean Grey and a couple others...
I want to like this movie I REALLY do! It's just hard with them still cranking out the Wolverine movies for me to just ignore everything thus far. I think this is going to look really cool but have a really weak story with lots of holes (Emma's age gap) and just doesn't connect any dots. In the end I hope it proves me completely wrong though. I am curious how and if this will effect the story line for the upcoming Wolverine movie.
@Girth: I completely agree.; that was my exact thought. Both trailers are very well presented. But one can only hope. And it won't take very much to do a better movie than The Last Stand -maybe actually thinking for about 5 minutes should do the trick. And Singer's producing. His vision of the mutants is one I respect. I read n interview with him and I think it was Hayter and he gave a synopsis of the story he would have done for X-Men 3, and I was greatly impressed with it.
@duketogo: by that argument you expect all the comics continuity to follow real time strictly. Does that mean you're pissed that all the X-Men in the comics now arent in their 50s and 60s?
McAvoy would've made a better Banshee. I hope its good, but at the same time I've been disappointed in the last twox-related movies, so we'll see. I've always had a problem with movies using real historical events to frame their plot so hopefully the Cuban missile crisis isn't the focus of the movie. Outside of Forrest Gump, pretty much nobody does it effectively, and often its either a crutch or cringe inducingly pointless (see Transformers).
I'm hoping they retain Magneto's Holocaust origin, I know thats getting harder to do the further we get from WWII but I think its integral to what makes him an interesting character.
Why does everyone keep saying "Oh but the Xmen 3 trailer looked good too!"
NO IT DIDN'T.
*weird explosion sound for no reason*
"WE are the cure!"
*YEAAHHHHHH*
This looks about 10x classier and intriguing to see how McAvoy/Fassbender pull off the character dynamics and not just cheesy wire work and explosions that apparently everyone thought "looked good" when they saw the X3 trailer. The X3 trailer had 2 cool moments- Angel using his wings to blast out of his restraints, and jean grey casually blowing the doors off the X-lab. The rest is a heavy coating of cheese.
Going out on a limb here... but isn't it much to early to judge the movie? Sure, great trailers can make crap films look good (yes, I fell for both Transformers movies) but by the same token crap trailers can make good films look cobblers (the JJ Abrhams star trek in my opinion; it showed a generic desert world, generic ice world generic space battle, explosions, half nude alien chick etc). The Wolverine trailer made that look awesome (and yes, I did enjoy it but not as much as I thought I would). Ditto Spiderman 3 (and that film was so bad it made me cry, in a manly way).
Me, I'm going to act like this has bugger all to do with the previous x-men s'movies and quietly look forward to seeing it. It may be great, it may be okay, it may be so crap it'll be like spiderman 3 (doubt that's possible though). The trailer doesn't generate the same amout of "oh that looks ******* awesome" that the Thor and Captain America trailer's do, but as far as first looks go its good in my opinion.
I actually cant wait for this movie. I am a huge x-men fan, so when anything is made,I love it. I am a little bit pissed of that its not the original rooster but here is what I hope happens....
I hope that this movie will be great, resulting in a sequel. So, in the sequel, the mutants(Angel Salvadore,Havock etc) will either leave or me very minor. This means that Xavier and Beast find recruit Cyclops, Jean, Iceman and Angel. Magneto and Mystique then recruit the Brotherhood, Toad, Mastermind and Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.(If not, Emma or Avalanche) So then we have the original rooster(bar blue Beast and Mystique), the original-inspired costumes, and I think its a win win. Call it, simply, "The X-Men"
trailer looks good. I can't believe they actually used yellow, but it might work with the setting being in the 60's. Im just sick of Prof X and Magneteo already, and that's gonna be the downfall of this movie if it isn't the plot. The plot is already making fanboys pissed because of the title being First Class and isn't the first class from the comics. I think people are gonna be sick of the Magneto. You can't really do anything about Prof X because he is the leader so he's gonna be in it regardless, but come on now. There's are so many other villains. It's great we get to see Shaw, but it kind of looks like it's gonna be the X-men vs the military as well as the Hellfire Club. Where do they go after this if the movies does well, if it's a good story, back to the end of X-men 3? They did so much changing of the continuity in the movies that I just don't care about the changes anymore, it's expected. I was entertained with X-3. I might be the only one. I'm just sick of Magneto. If this movie does well, and they have to go back to end of X-3 it's gonna lead into yet another Magneto as the baddy story because of the end of the X-3 where you see Magneto move the metal chess peice ever so slightly. Remember that Cyclops is dead, Prof's in another body, Jean is dead, and once again we're gonna deal with Wolverine who I am sick of too. Not sick of Wolverine, but I want some more focus on other characters since there are so many damn good characters to use. Cyclops is cool ass character and there really wasn't any focus on him. Marsden is a actor and they never really showed it. I thought he did Cylops well, but it's been a decade since the first movie and he's older now and looks it.
