X-Men Destiny's First New Mutant Revealed

Details start to fall In place for X-Men RPG due out later this year.

Likely set in a possible alternate future where Professor Xavier has passed on and mutants are just as alienated as ever from their human counterparts, X-Men Destiny looks to revolve around the choices you will make as a new mutant and a new member of the famed superhero team.

Not much else had been released up to this point about the highly anticipated RPG from Activision and developer Silicon Knights aside from you will choose to be one of three new mutants who will be critical to the X-Men's future and that the game will have a Fable or Bioware RPG feel to it as the choices you’ll make will greatly affect your fate.

Today though, new details and four new screenshots have been released confirming both Colossus and Gambit will be in the game along with information about the first mutant of the three you can choose from.

Colossus ground pounds some bad guys.
    == TEASER ==

The first new character for X-Men Destiny is a 15-year old girl named Aimi Yoshida (not revealed if related to Sunfire in any way) whose bio reveals that she was smuggled out of Japan by her mutant parents before the entire family could be rounded up and incarcerated in the new mutant camps. Not a good sign for the future if there are mutant concentration camps. Anyway, Aimi arrives in San Francisco hidden on a tanker ship. She is too young and frightened to appreciate her parents’ motivations for sending her away, and instead feels only the bitterness and anger of abandonment.

Aimi Yoshida will be one of the three playable characters in X-Men Destiny.

She is described as small in size but strong in mental focus and that Aimi is the mutant ability expert. She specializes in efficient mutant power usage and her fighting style is very acrobatic and graceful.

Gambit stands ready with Aimi in the background.

This unfortunately leaves out what exactly her powers are or if there is an option of you being able to choose what your powers are at the beginning of the game. Maybe Aimi and the other characters are simply like choosing a particular class at the beginning of any other RPG. I’m sure more details will be revealed as we approach the loose Q4 2011 release date for this game. Let us know what you think of Aimi as a character and what you want to see in this X-Men RPG by commenting below!

Welcome to the X-Men. They deal with this kind of thing on a daily basis.

is this an rpg or an mmorpg?

Posted by NXH

I completely forgot about this game.
I'm calling it first. I have no doubt this will be an awful game.

" Aimi Yoshida, a japanese mutant arriving to SF" that just racist...

those hooded mask dudes looks awesome. They look like the modern ninjas.

Is this gonna be a X-Men Legends 3 type thing. Or like DC universe online?
Posted by sora_thekey

DO. WANT. So bad!

I am actually thinking that it might be like the first X-Men Legends game where we used Magma for the story part of the game but got to choose our own characters for missions and such.

it looks like her mutant power is energy projection of some sort

I like what I'm seeing here! I hope they don't skim on the cameos, as for Aimi nice design but I'm more of a "scrapper" in these kind of games so I can't wait to see the others

Posted by StarKiller809

I remember seeing something about X-Men destiny.
Posted by Crimson_Nutcase

I think this just about makes up for the crappy leaked screen shots, it was about time they showed somthing new

Posted by MadComics

Do any of you know what system this game will be on? Please tell me.
Posted by JonesDeini

Meh, Gambit's face looks really bad in that screen shot.

I'm a bit dissapointed that it looks like character customisation (aesthetically anyway) is going to be somewhat limited.  And if everyone's character's going to look the same, it suggests little or no online play.

I'd pick character customisation over 'choice driven' storylines (ie, two, maybe three alternative endings) any day.  I'm not writing this off yet but so despite a interesting looking teaser trailer, things aren't looking good for it so far.

@MadComics:
According to Gamespot it will be on XBOX 360, PS3, Wii and NDS.

i am still crossing my fingers to get Kitty Pryde in this game

There are only 3 playable characters?!?!?

Posted by Crazy Pan

I guess I can dig it. I mean, you aren't given much choice in your character in Fable so I will survive with the lack of choices.

@.o0Johnny0o.: Yay if it's on the Wii, it's the only system mentioned I have :]

This is pretty much the deciding factor for me if I'm honest, whether to buy it or not! She'd better be in there, and a lot. Mike Carey should do us proud though. I think it looks fab!

EDIT: Oh wait, regular Sunfire's last name is Yoshida......

What is it with guys playing little girl characters. It's weird.

and marvel chose to release the japanese character escaping Japan first at a time like this? fire the PR person

Posted by sesquipedalophobe

I had hoped it would have had an almost Mass Effect/Oblivion quality to it instead of playable characters. I don't necessarily care for main characters having detailed stories, so long as the gameplay and plot are worth sitting through.

Posted by HexThis

Why did they have to create a new character? Boom Boom or Jubilee would've fit this role fine, even someone like Hiasako (though she's a little bland) could've done the trick.

Posted by GothamBat

Dang, I though you would be able to make your own character instead of choosing between 3 new ones. That kinda sucks.

This like Dc Universe online?

Posted by jordama

I might actually have to buy a newer consol for this

I love the fact that this game will be similair to a Bioware game, that makes me happy. Now, if this game is sticking with more current stories and rosters with Cyclops being the leader and Emma being a major player then I will be extremly happy!
Posted by mysticflame

The plot sounds pretty good to me, but it would be good if you could choose your own powers, but then that might be what the three different characters are for.

Posted by Bestostero

I might rent this game, I don't know if I'll buy it...

Posted by Iron_Lad

Gambit's eyes look creepy. Nothing like how they should be.

Posted by Skaddix

Honestly I don't care as long as the last one is  a black male mutant, the ones we have had gotten screwed, we need a new teen one.

Posted by goldenshot80
Might get or not.

Sounds awesome, can't wait.

racist or not- at least its sticking with current continuity with the X-Men opporating in and out of San Francisco.
Posted by GREGalicious

Although i would rather have a X-MEN LEGENDS III, this looks pretty interesting and most likely a buy for me. This new girl looks promising...

Posted by AetherMaster

If it's anything like X-Men Legends, I'm getting it. And so far, we have Colossus, Gambit, Surge, and the two original characters so far, but it sounds like you're only going to be able to pick one per game.

Posted by Skaddix

yeah three playable characters. Also hopefully that first guy gets a redesign he looked awful, anyone would look bad like that but him being white made it 10 times worse.

Posted by Jubilantlad

Not too bad. But if we only have three character "templates" to choose from, I'm suspecting it'll limit online play.

Posted by Dark Cell

Wait...you dont...get to create your own mutant? Please explain to me why we arnt playing as the characters like instead of some new character we dont give a toss about?

I wouldnt mind if it was a character we created, but it isnt.
Posted by TDK_1997

nice

Posted by BoomBoom

She seems to me to have similar power as the mutant Boom Boom

Right! Didn't notice the San Fransisco part! Will the current X-force appear in this? Will it play like the X-men Legends games? so many questions..

Looks really good.

Edited by DH69

oh yay another x-men game...GIMME MY AVENGERS RPG!!!

Posted by VanTesla

Hope the game is more Bioware esc than Fable when it comes to choices and dialogue.

The game kinda looks and feels similar to Jade Empire from the small information we have.

Hope the campaign will be long with high replay and no early day DLC bs.

Why are people thinking this might be an MMO... If you read the info it is clearly not.
Edited by PhoenixoftheTides

I am looking forward to the game but underwhelmed by Aimi Yoshida. Sounds angsty and emo-ish.

I'd love to be able to create my own mutant and power-set.
