X-Men 2099 in First Class

Seriously?

I think that's Willow on the big guy's neck. There aren't exactly a lot of good pictures of her.

X-NATION 2099?! Holy crap…I’m spinning down into the time warp, here. I haven’t even thought of that title in at least a decade. As I recall, it was an X-MEN 2099 spin-off that ran for all of six issues as Marvel’s 2099 line was finally winding down in the mid 90s. It’s probably getting more attention in our database than it’s every gotten before because one its characters, Willow (a Mystique-style shape-shifter,) just might be appearing X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

So, this famous surfer, Erica Hosseini, recently did in an interview with the Straight 2 DVD blog and, in that interview, she mentioned that she'd just auditioned for FIRST CLASS. The role was for a character called Willow, who wasn't actually the witch girl from BUFFY but the obscure future mutant I just described. Hosseini wasn't sure if she should reveal that, or if even if she'll get a call back, so this is basically just a rumor at this point, but... c'mon, this is too obscure to be made up. == TEASER ==

Heh... even if she isn't Willow, I hope she makes it in the movie.

Think about it. X-NATION 2099. That's a sign that somebody, somewhere, in FIRST CLASS' crew has to be a certified eXpert to remember a supporting character from a title that only ran for six months in '96. I won't say I'm shocked that they're delving this deep into continuity. When Agent Zero,a version of Maverick, showed up in WOLVERINE, I knew that every single mutant who's ever appeared is up for grabs in these movies.

On a related note, I'm kind of curious as to why Marvel's never integrated elements of 2099's world into the 616 continuity outside of the occasional guest appearance from Miguel " Spider-Man" O'Hara. There's four year's worth of concepts, characters and content that could easily meld into the present. Anybody else remember 2099? What would you want to see folded into the regular MU? We are that much closer to the year, anyway.
