Would You Watch A Bone Movie? How About Three?

Creator Jeff Smith is "very happy" with the progress.

Ah, Jeff Smith's BONE.  I have to say the series has been one of my absolute favorites.  I'm currently about three-fourths of the way through the series with my daughter.  It's simply a book that everyone can enjoy.  The big question is, when will we get a Bone movie?  It was a year and a half ago that I first got wind of a possible Bone movie.  While there hasn't been much news since, MTV just posted some words from Jeff Smith.

Smith said he is "very happy" with the progress so far.  He also feels that Warner Bros. will make three movies out of it in order to fully tell the complete story.

Three movies?!?  That sounds great to me!  This is a movie that I really want to see.  I am scared that it could be bad but I'll just have to trust that Jeff Smith will be on hand to ensure it doesn't get butchered.

One of the questions before was whether or not it would be live-action, animated, CGI or some combination.  I believe it's leaning towards an animated film right now.  Even though most "kid movies" are CG these days, I really feel that it should be done the old fashioned way.  If you haven't read Bone, go out this weekend and pick some up.  It's just such a great story.

I used to read Bone myself, and my nephew is reading them right now. It's really cool if you ask me. I'd love to see a movie, though not sure about 3?? One would do nicely, unless they hit it so far out of the park we are all clamoring for more!

There's just no way they could tell the whole story (55 issues) in one movie.

I have all the BONE series printed in color....they are amazing.

I consider BONE to be far better then Lord of The Rings and almost any other fantasy movie. It's a great series and I pray to god that they don't make a movie that will end up being total crap.

@G-Man:
True. They would have to take some liberties with the story line. Either that or why not a cartoon series instead of movies?

I've only seen a few pages of Bone myself had always wanted to pick up some issues but never did.  Regret it now maybe I will.  What little I know about Bone, I would have to say I'd anticipate it all being animated.   If it gets produced I will check it all out.

DRAGON!!
 i love the news, but the potential to screw the pooch on this film is astounding. So much can go wrong....
but much like The Golden Compas, when its a movie about a book i love ill still see it twice.

Animated is the way to go. I mean, look at Smith's art style. Would it be appropriate any other way?

I have no clue who they could cast as voices, though. The idea never appeared to me because I didn't care. It's like casting voices for Calvin and Hobbes. (Except THat comic never intended to be anything other than a comic.)

Bone was cool. And funny as hell.

I would like a cartoon or CG movie. No dumb-as-hell live action.
