Wonderful Wizard Of Oz: NY Times Bestseller + See Skottie's Art

This wonderful book makes the Best Seller list.

I may have mentioned my fondness for The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz by Eric Shanower and Skottie Young.  I reviewed the hardcover HERE and gave it a 5 out of 5.  It seems l'm not the only one that digs this book.  Today it was announced that the book has made the New York Times Best Seller List.  It debuted at number 9.

Eric Shanower, no stranger to the world of Oz, commented:

Every time there is a new one, it’s always interesting to me to see what they’re going to cut out of the story. I tried to bring nothing new. The book is as faithful an adaptation as I could make it.

Skottie managed to capture the whole world of Oz in a new way. The characters are cute when they have to be cute and scary when they need to be scary.

It's simply an amazing book.

Also, check out Skottie digitally penciling the cover to the Marvelous Land of Oz #2. It's like watching magic happen before your eyes. The actual time it took him to do this was 43 mintues.

If you have already read The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, you may already know that we can expect The Marvelous Land Of Oz #1 on November 4, 2009.

I'm not ashamed to admit it but I 'heart' Skottie big time.  He's the only reason I'm buying the "First Class" comics, just for his covers.

I really like the Marvelous Land of Oz cover.  I like his take on it.  Plus it doesn't hurt I'm a fan of Jack Pumpkinhead as it is.  Win/Win.

The Marevelous Land of Oz sounds intriguing. I do enjoy it with they put a twist on a classic tale, along the lines of SciFi's Oz mini series. This certainly looks worth following.
