Wolverine #72, Old Man Logan Part 7 Preview

The end is near even though it's already over for the heroes.

Oooh, can you smell that?  That's the smell of anticipation as we draw nearer to the end of Old Man Logan.  Don't take that the wrong way.  No one wants the arc to be over.  We just all want to see what happens next.  I already mentioned how Marvel has switched the release order of the issues and shipped issue #73 last week.  This issue, comes out next week.  Keep in mind that with Memorial Day, it looks like the comics won't be out until Thursday.  What's one more day to wait for this great issue.  I know we've seen some big delays with this story arc.  It's been a bummer but it also has helped to prolong the end.

So here's a preview for part 7.  It's kind of interesting to see Red Skull so prominently featured.  It's also interesting in that it appears to be Bucky in the Cap suit.  I wonder if Dr. Doom or his "Master" will make an appearance before the end since it's Millar writing.  How do you think it's all going to end?
Logan and Hawkeye have finally reached their journey’s end, made it to New Babylon, and delivered Hawkeye’s secret cargo. But the completion of their mission has come with a great price…and Logan is out for revenge on the man responsible for the annihilation of the world’s super heroes, the President of the United States! Don’t miss the penultimate issue of the greatest Wolverine story ever told by modern masters MARK MILLAR and STEVE MCNIVEN! Part 7 (of 8).

Silly me... I thought there might be some Wolverine in there ;)

That's pretty intriguing stuff.  I've never really known much about Red Skull, but I didn't think he would be so psycho as to wear the costume of his greatest foe... it's a bit like wearing the skin of the defeated (especially with the blood splatters still on it).

This looks good, but I hope the rest is not let down

Posted by Buckshot

This is like the best Wolverine I've read in a while. Only bad thing is the delays but I'm not even mad cuz it's worth it. Hope I can get this collected. Oh, and Red Skull is sick! (But great at the same time.)

Looks promising

like the detail in the trophy case reconised 15 not including cap

NICE Can't wait for this story arc to wrap up.

The long delays in my opinion have obviously hurt the overall success of this title. Cause the series is great but yet you don't really hear much about it from the comicbook community. Those scans of the Red Skull are badass. (did he just sink his fingers into Cap's eyes?) hahaha damn thats cold blooded.

Wow, I have seen a lot of trophy rooms but I have never seen one that had the Things arm in it. Anyway would enjoy seeing how many of these heroes where taken down, but I guess those are stories for another mini series.

This is a world I hope never come true, but cool story I have always wondered why people like Red Skull or Dr. Doom didn't get all the bad guys together and take down all of the heroes, but I guess we know what would happen if they did

I don't know if people aren't talking about it.  They're definitely interested.  "Old Man Logan" is actually the number 5 search term that new users use to come into our site.  It's the #2 result if you google it.  That's great for us.

I will definitely be buying the hardcover release for this even though it's one of the few comics that I actually keep on hand (I have no organization besides just throwing my comics in a pile).

So good.  Old Man Logan is a great story arc.

I love the idea of Red Skull just slowly killing cap, it's so sad and pathetic.

That's what I'm going to do, buy the TPB, plus I missed a few issues and because it's a great story. But I wonder how it ends?

OH MY GOODNESS I WANT TO READ OLD MAN LOGAN RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Psychotime

I know Skull's a nazi, but I didn't think he'd be sick enough to wear Caps's blood spattered costume.

What does this have to do with Wolverine, though?

Also: What happened to America!?

Posted by Slinger

I can't wait for the finally. I hope they get Millar to write the eventual mini that leads up to this post apocalyptic future. McNiven's art is always nice too. There isn't much to be said that hasn't been said already.

I wonder what Skull means when he says no one would want the rest of the world.

If the delays weren't as long it would be the number 1 most searched term on the Vine and #1 result on google. (maybe I'm wrong)

Actually a lot of people search "comicvine."  Maybe they just don't want to type it into the url field.

But he said that before the world was ruled by villains, so how did the world become a wasteland? or did I miss something? (I did miss a few issues)

I dont remeber but it reads like the rest of the World is in ruins. Look at the carnage just there in Washington D.C. The rest of the World must be worse off then that.

Good point and yeah D.C. didn't look that good, but even though he died Bucky died like Steve did, a Hero that made me sad though to see him dying at the hands of the Red Skull
Posted by Jean_Luc_LeBeau

I kinda like seeing the villains win. Usually the heroes always find a way to win or survive. Your right, it was sad seeing Cap die like that, but I think its a great move. It really stirs emotion in the reader (at least it did me)

Then he would be leaving his wife a widow and his children fatherless, maybe his son can grow claws like Daken at the end of the Old Man Logan arc

No I believe your right Millar said that F.Force are 500 years after Old Man Logan (I believe) and this is all connected with the book 1985 and with the Masters of Doom in the current F.F. book.

With Millar you don't know how his storys will really end, he puts all the twist into them that you mite think it's going to end this way but he makes it end in completely other way

I can't believe there are people out there who aren't reading this arc!  This has got to be one of the best stories of the past ten years.  Every issue has been amazing and after reading #72 I really don't know how I'm going to wait for the ending to this.
